Remember The Panthers Will Be Moving To 3-4 Soon.

a 3-4 base defense doesn't mean they run it 90-100% of time. The patriots used to be a 3-4 base def and ran it 50-50. The panthers might run it 50-50 or 60-40 or whatever. It's okay that some of you don't know what football is becoming. Bigger, faster, stronger. 3-4 like ravens, steelers, packers, 49ers. 3-4 defenses. Bigger athletic defenses. People said Texans didn't have the pieces and look where they went. They were a 3-4 and after the year before where they were garbage on def, they moved and one of the top defenses in football. With offensive players getting bigger and faster, teams have to go bigger and faster. It's the evolution of the game. Guess that's why some people have knowledge of a matt millen.

I doubt very seriously that we well ever do much more than periodic 3-4 looks. Rivera said as much last year. The idea that we are actively trying to switch to a 3-4 base is preposterous, especially considering the fact that we have actively resigned 4-3 specific personnel over the last two off seasons and if a switch was happening you would think that we wouldn't be doing that.

We didn't hire McDermett to run a 3-4 base. Now that we have a full off season to install/learn the full zone blitz scheme, we will probably do as much as any team. In order to stop the better offenses you have to disguise/confuse the QB. From time tp time any back seven player will blitz and someone in the front four will drop into coverage. In order to do this you need versatile players. That's why I think we draft Ingram if he's there, with Coples next and Poe third.

A good descrition of the Eagles blitz --http://www.eagleseyeblog.com/2012-articles/february/looking-back-at-the-eagles-feared-zone-blitz.html
