Panthers Are Listening To Offer For J-Stew

According to Len Pasquarelli of The Sports Xchange, the Panthers will "definitely" listen to trade offers for Jonathan Stewart this offseason.

After signing Mike Tolbert, the Panthers quickly put out word that Stewart wasn't on the trade block, perhaps for fear of losing leverage. Per Pasquarelli, however, the Steelers could be a "sleeper" to make a run at Stewart, and "everyone" has made the Broncos the favorite to acquire the versatile, 25-year-old back. Yeah, technically they could pay him, but no team is going to invest that much into the RB spot....especially with a Newton on the roster.

Not only can Cam run but they are going to have to redo his deal soon....and you still have to have money to field a playoff caliber team.

Counting on 700 yards from Tolbert is stretching it imo. He avg. 4 ypc last year. Meh. He avg. 8 yp catch. Again, meh. And his longest reception? 27 yards. Meh. Tolbert is here to replace Goody. Let's not make too much of this. Mkay?

Counting on 700 yards from Cameron may be a stretch as well. Although there is a part of me that can see that # go up with a year of experience under his belt. More of those "Explosive" type plays.

Unless, Zod forbid, Chud totally fugs with Stew. I see NO reason he would want to leave. This offense has to be a blast to play in. Why would he leave? He has seen everyone else get paid. He knows he will be getting paid. The Panthers know he will be getting paid. His teammates know he is getting paid. Heck, even I know he is getting paid. The only question is, who's money does Stew take? Almost everyone agrees that the Panthers are in the lead. But this is the NFL. Anything can, and usually does, happen.

If Stew wants to be here, he will be here. Just that simple and plain. And GOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You say Marty overvalues RB's? How will that facilitate a trade that he's already said he wasn't offering.

I hate to hear this. Stewart is worth every bit of a 1st round pick in a trade. I don't care about the value of runningbacks.

I am sure that if Stewart wants to be here he will be signed. I also think that we discussed signing him when we signed Williams. I think we brought in Tolbert because we couldn't work anything out and wanted some leverage. I think we are talking about signing him as we speak. If he doesn't agree we are going to look to move him. We might keep him through this season if we think we can afford to franchise him for 8 million next season. But I don't think we are going to let him walk for nothing like we did wwith Peppers.

Do I know any of this to be gospel? No I don't, but it is what I think is happening.

Hurney said "he wasn't going to call anyone seeking a trade" which is much different that what you just stated. When he said that, he basically said, "we are open for business"

Dude it really seems like your TRYING so hard to not get it. There is no implying that he is definitely gone, but to act like Its not even reasonable and deserves no attention AT ALL is just stupid. It is not a matter of Stew wanting to be here, its a matter of him wanting to be compensated financially and playing time wise for his worth. Which i KNOW he does, its not rocket science and its rightfully so he feels that way. The fact is Stewart is a feature every down back on 90 percent of the teams in the league and he is second string here. He deserves to be valued on the level of the best backs in the league and even tho we may view him like that in a mind set it will be extremely hard for us to make it a reality. Panthers have to do whats in the best interest of the team and trying to keep a top running back (who is second string here) when you already gave another one 30 million guaranteed is just not good business sense for the team. Teams that are on the come up and close to being elite have no time for man crushes on certain players and have to make sacrifices to make sure their team stays on that path. We may end up having to lose Stew to get that. I like your optimism but now your just starting to sound unlogical.

And Tolbert is a proven reliable player who is so much better than Goodson its ridiculous. You trying to put them on the same level is laughable.
