Panthers Are Listening To Offer For J-Stew

jonathan stewart is 25. he has another five years of highlights like these in his system, far more if we keep running him in a two-back system.

if we trade him it'd better be for a king's ransom.

Which is why we won't trade him. No one will give up a 1st. About the only team I'd see doing that and this is a long shot by the way, is Denver, they still have cap room and have a low first round pick. John Fox knows what Stewart is capable of, and getting pick #25 for Stewart and say a 4th round pick would be awesome. But, it won't happen. =/

define successful.

stew and williams split carries right now. stew has to know that teams are shifting towards split-back systems as the default. the days of single guys pounding the rock forty times a game are over. stew has to know that.

he also has to know that if he wants to stay hurney will be more than happy to pay him his dues. and that williams will not be here forever, and even though the depth chart is no indicator of one being clearly superior over the other, when williams is gone stew will clearly be the top dog.

he has nothing to gain by bailing that he won't get by staying. and he has a chance to play behind what is building up to be one of the greatest offensive attacks put together in NFL history.

unless he hates it here for we bafflingly decide to trade him i see absolutely no way he goes.

Disagree, a lot of teams have split back systems but usually don't "split" the ball like we do.

Arian Foster 278 carries

Ben Tate 175 carries

Foster gets 103 more carries

D-will 155 carries

Jonathan Stewart 142 carries

D-will gets 10 more carries than Stew

Stewart would have a more PRODUCTIVE career elsewhere.

You know why this thread is meaningless? Because everyone is replying with the idea that there was an update in the Stewart trade talks when really the "analyst" in OP's post was only stating the obvious. Of course, we're going to listen to offers for Stewart. We would listen to offers for any player and that includes Cam Newton. Any team would listen to every offer for every player on their team. That doesn't mean that teams consider each and every offer, and it doesn't mean that we're suddenly trying to push Stewart anymore than usual. There really isn't any actual news here. Nothing's changed. I don't mean that nothing will happen, but people are reacting as if there was some sort of shift in the trade talks. It's just an analyst pointing out nothing because he couldn't find anything interesting to talk about.

At least they are talking about the team.

Why do you think Chud's offense is a "two back system?"

More reps and more as a runner by leaving. Sharing reps with Williams, Tolbert, and Cam....isn't a RBs dream scenario especially on a team not playing Foxball.

Foxball on offense died in Denver the moment Peyton signed with them. If he's healthy, he's basically the OC for the Broncos.

I would agree but how many OC wouldn't love to have Stewart as there RB? I think the most we can get is a 2nd but considering if we don't trade him now it will be only a 3rd at best 2 years from now (comp pick when we let him walk). If we can't get a 2nd I say we just wait on the comp pick and maybe he goes off like gangbusters this year and we tag and trade him next year.

Stewart is not going to be traded for anything less then a first round pick or a young proven defensive starter. It makes NO SENSE to trade him for less if the FO thinks we can make the playoffs this year, which i think we all believe to be a good possiblity. Trading him for any less hurts our chances this year which is stupid. Try an re sign him in the off season or take the draft pick compensation we will get. This wont be any worse then a pick we can trade him for plus we get a year with 2 great and one good rb.

I don't agree. I think they would take a 2nd rounder for him, + maybe a late round.

We have Tolbert now, who is a quality back. If we don't get something for Stew, then we lose in the long-term. Even tho I love JStew & think he has more upside than Williams, if we got a 2d this year, I would say take it.

We can improve the defense with out losing Stewie....If we lose 1 rb this season we are fuged we need Stew and this is his season coming up I love DWILL but Stew was the better RB last season.....We have 2 #1 RBS on our team not many other teams can say that,

Not many teams draft a RB in the first round of the draft within 2 years of each other either.
