How is it epically stupid to not want to trade a proven commodity for an unknown. Unless we can g et a Proven player or a first round pick, which we will not get! Just keep him for the year. One year of a great running back is worth more the unknown to me. Sorry i dont want to trade one of our best player in his prime for a fugin draft pick.

depending on how they feel about his future here, I think if someone offers a 2nd we would be wise to take it. as much as I think Stew really fits this offense well, it seems extremely unlikely we will be able to keep him and Dwill along with our other RBs without really strapping outself down as far as what we can spend elsewhere.

I would prefer we find a way to keep double trouble together without hurting the offense but I am just not sure if we can.

One thing to note is that if Stewart walks, we do not get NOTHING back, I am pretty sure we get a 3rd rounder (well, end of the 3rd round) so while I do think we should trade him I do not think we should trade him at any cost

They don't........ If a GM doesn't listen to offers he's not doing his job. No player is off limits.

GM's talk to each other all the time concernings player trades. sometimes the media knows about them and some are confidential

and believe me.......teams have been inquiring about JStew whether Hurney admits it or not.

At best, we would get a pick at the end of the 3rd round in 2014. Due to Stew splitting carries, he may not even get that....might only get a pick at the end of the 5th round in 2014.

Anyone who would rather let him walk at the end of this season and get av5th round compensatory pick....rather than trade for a 2nd rounder in this year's draft is beyond ridiculous....they are pathetic.

I understand the front offices desire to trade J-stew. Lets be honest, we will not have the money to sign him next year. We either trade him this offseason, or lose him.

Our new offense does not require two great RB's. We can make due with Williams and possibly trade into the 2nd round and solidify our defense.

I WOULD HATE THE IDEA OF J-STEW PLAYING SOMEWHERE ELSE. But, it makes the most sense!

Franchise tag or watch him possibly command top money? Sounds like depending on the landing point he could prove to be more trouble than he's worth. The problem with involving a trade with another player is the CAP. We simply have none and Stewart is still on his rookie contract, which basically means he is playing for next to nothing. If we would do a player swap, we would need to find a player under contract to make practically nothing (another player on their rookie contract most likely)

Well the cap is always a factor, but those type things work themselves out when a deal is being put together. Best I can tell teams aren't going to be interested in giving a second round pick for a player with one year left on their contract. When our management says they aren't shopping him, I can believe that. If that is true, how in the world is some team going to come here and knock our socks off with a deal considering the contract they pick up? Everything points to him staying IMO. I'll be concerned about 2013 after we finish 2012.
