The New Official Hip-Hop Thread

I'd rather hear him talk about raising up than simply pointing the finger at someone else...  Like Mos Def said, "people talk about Hip-Hop like it's some giant livin in the hillsidecomin down to visit the townspeople.  We are hip-hop"..

if he wants to do something instead of talking about how big brother and society is keeping people down, maybe he should elevate his lyrics to call out the people in hip-hop themselves.

sure racism still exists, but the massive movement representing a fuged up culture is maybach and young money..  corporations and business people are going to allure any and everyone.

this is a much bigger issue than I care to even get involved with, but he's barely touching the surface of the real issue and most of that album came across to me as a victim and not a leader.

Hell, for that matter, he can look straight at Jay-Z and ask why he promotes his wealth and greatness instead of using that voice to lead.  That is if he really is the "greatest"...

am I really that far off?

some people aren't wired to be the leader. Some can only point things out. i don't consider that a fault.

I just have this splitting headache from the 2 seconds I turn on the radio right before I change it when I heard some assclown like future, 2chainz, rick ross, well- all of maybach and young money constantly fuging the ears of america everywhere..

so in short I guess I expect too much from someone who tries to discuss issues in America like this catastrophe isn't staring him square in the face..  Even his boss is largely to blame for the state of this union where I hear someone say "man, future killed it on this hook"..

and all the hook/lyrics are about is the very thing Kanye is talking about, but never pointing the blame to the real issue, like his mentor, and all these other cats who point to their wealth, selling drugs, and fug bitches..

essentially leading kids to believe you have to sell drugs if you want money, hoes, and any sense of pride.. Great message to send.

that's not what I said.. I meant if he ever wants to point at an issue detrimental to the heart of the community, then sweep the streets of your home. Doesn't mean you can't include any variety of other topics as well. But I feel like it would be more beneficial to start from within and work your way out. Not point at everything outside of what you can't control and ignore the things you can control

I wish rock music did more in this capacity. But then again, at least they have Foo Fighters to send a strong message. Dave Grohl isn't afraid to speak out.

with that said, I'll get off my soap box.. I realize, from many experiences, this is a dead horse.

I can't really say I enjoyed Yeezus. But I did enjoy his performance on Fallon monday night with Charlie Wilson and the Roots. Slowed down and kind of a throw back to the music he used to make.  'Bound 2'  (and yes I've posted this before)

He did mumble the beginning of the second first though.  I really got lost in the Roots and Charlie Wilson here, absolutely loved them.

damn I'm hyped I found this thread! Hip-hop is my fuggin life man, can't wait to talk about it with y'all.

You know what sucks? That lil wayne actually used to straight kill it with his old stuff, from like '04 to '08... He was my favorite back then.. I still listen to da drought/carter 2-3 every now and then. It's a shame as to what he is now :/

real talk... he doesn't get enough credit for what he did. IMO most dominant prime EVER. & if you look at his albums/mixtapes he's def a legend...

Carter I

Carter II

Carter III

Like Father, Like Son

Da Drought 3

Dedication 1

Dedication 2

No Ceilings

The Prefix

The Suffix

+ the loads of unreleased material that leaked. probably his best material is the C3 sessions tbh... and he use to destroy every feature he was on back in the day.

Wish he still had the same passion.
