Calling All Mechanics...need A Little Help

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 2WD 4.0L Inline 6. Noticed it was leaking water from the front of the engine, figured it was water pump. Changed water pump gasket, as water pump was fine, gasket was not. Replaced Antifreeze and oil. started her up and noticed she is leaking water from around the camshaft.

Here is my Questions....

Can it be the head gasket? There is no oil in the water or vice versa.

IF the block is cracked, is it worth trying those Block Sealer products?

The motor has 250,000 plus miles, but was rebuilt at about 150,000...I didnt do it, but i got the paper work for it.

Trying to get as much info as i can before i decide what to do. Love my jeep as its been a good car for us for almost three years.

Thanks for any help!!

I haven’t turned a wrench professionally in over 20 years so...

Yes it can be a head gasket even though there is no oil in the water or vice versa.

I never had much success with block sealers. They always worked for a few weeks at most.

If it’s just a gasket it’s totally worth fixing. As long as it hasn’t spun a bearing or gotten water in a cylinder you should be ok.
