Broncos Fan Chooses To Die Over Seeing Manning Get Signed

Jim Driver died on Monday, the same day Peyton Manning agreed to terms with Denver. Driver, 1933-2012, led an interesting life. He was a Navy photographer in the Korean War, transferred from Santa Clara Community College because "the curriculum was too liberal," and spent his later years teaching children to ice skate. He sounds like a decent guy, and a big-time Broncos fan. But he was more the The Golden Calf of Bristol sort, according to the opening paragraph of his obituary in the Columbia Tribune:

James H. "Jim" Driver, 78, of Eagle, Colo., formerly of Columbia, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at South Hampton Place in Columbia after a brief illness. An avid Broncos fan, he abhorred Manning and evidently wanted out before a deal was done.

Holy poo

I see the Huddle sarcasm meters are a little rusty this morning.

The obituary was most likely written by a close friend or family member. Jim was most likely a nice man with a great sense of humor who would've appreciated someone playing on the irony of the day like that.

dude didn't kill himself. he was old, got sick and died.

opening paragraph was an attempt at levity by a friend or family member in dealing with this fellow's passing.

it's a shame that people are making this out to be anything more than what it is.
