Losing Peyton will not even have a real impact. The Saints are a well oiled machine and Peyton leaves them in trusted hands.

Saints coach Sean Payton isn’t the only one who’s beside himself that he was banned from the NFL for the year.

The Saints’ biggest star, Drew Brees, took to Twitter after the punishment for the team’s bounty scandal was announced, and he couldn’t believe it.

“I am speechless,” Brees wrote. “Sean Payton is a great man, coach, and mentor. The best there is. I need to hear an explanation for this punishment.”

If Brees wants an explanation, he only needs to read the NFL’s announcement on bounty discipline, which details what Payton did — and what Payton failed to do — regarding the bounty scandal. Brees doesn’t have to agree with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s decision, but Goodell has already given an explanation.

So Saints lose head coach and have 3 proven backups and a whole offseason to plan. Saints offense has no affect, and just loss one pick this year. So instead of winning by and average of 25 points, they win by 20 points!?

Also, only loss for 2013 is just a 2nd round pick. So no long term affects for future.

Of the 22 players on defense, only 6 starters are signed with Saints and that is possibly changing with saints working out LBs Lofton, Bunkley, and Hawthorne.

All in all, nothing too insurmountable for Saints.

Brees must not be smart as we thought. Payton knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it. Bottomline Payton is the HC and failed to do nothing about. Brees acts like Payton is a honorable man. Screw Brees for even supporting Payton if that is the case.
