LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Three popular brands of chicken jerky treats may be linked to illnesses in at least 600 dogs across the country.

Records obtained by msnbc.com show that the Food and Drug Administration has cited Waggin' Train, Canyon Creek Ranch jerky treats or tenders and Milo's Kitchen Home-style Dog Treats in several cases.

The agency insists that tests have not established a definitive tie to the treats.

'No specific products have been recalled because a definitive cause has not been determined,' FDA officials said in a statement.

Nestle Purina makes Waggin Train and Canyon Creek Ranch, while Del Monte produces Milo's Kitchen.

Both companies insist their products are safe.

The FDA is encouraging pet owners and veterinarians to submit complaints, along with samples.

The agency has been under pressure to address rising numbers of illnesses blamed on the China-made treats.

The FDA warned pet owners about jerky treats back in November.
