Luke Kuechly Visiting Carolina

As opposed to you...who goes by "sacks" in college for a LB....even though the scheme they ran did not require Kuechly to blitz.

I'll take 55's analysis over that crap any day.

Find where I just wanted sacks? I'll let you use Forced Fumbles and Tackles for Loss too. See where he ranked in the NCAA for those .

He's a tackling machine. I'm not denying that.

People were funneled to him in college and he tackled them.

P55 emphasized that in our Jim Johnson D we get pressure on the the QB with our LB's (one of his reasons for not going with a Dllineman) who sometimes blitz 50-60% of the time. But I guess someone that never blitzed in college would be a great fit in that D.

Oh and......

Kuechly and Curry are very different, even though they both play the same positions which players will usually share a lot of the same intangibles.

Curry was always very stiff, Kuechly is much more fluid.

Curry plays with passion and athleticism, Kuechly plays with knowledge of the game and instinct you just can't teach.

Kuechly is very athletic though, and some people overlook that. Or in this case, he's being mistaken for one of the most athletic linebackers being selected in the top 10 of a draft soon after he posted that 4.5 40.

People weren't "funneled to him"....that doesn't make much sense. If you watched/watch him play he finds the person with the ball and tackles them as that is exactly what a middle linebacker does. He peruses and tackles and is good in coverage as well. He was productive in the stat that matters most for middle linebackers.

I'm not advocating picking him but we could do much worse.

He had 12 tackles for a loss in 2011 as a junior. Willis had 11.5 tackles for a loss his senior year by comparison

He had 3 Ints his junior year and 7 for his career, Willis had 0 his senior year ans 1 for his career.

Kuechly had 0 forced funbles in 2011 and 2 for his career, Willis had 2 his senior year and 4 for his career.

So his college stats pretty much exceeds or is in line with arguably the best inside linebacker in the NFL even though he only played 3 years and this is a problem?

As for blitzing, what does it take to be good at it? Speed, great instincts, the ability to shed tacklers, and strength. What does Kuechly have?

All of those skills in spades. So he will have things to learn.

Jon Beason never blitzed in college and only has 5 sacks in his 5 year NFL career. After all, Beason had a total of 1 sack in college while Kuechly had 3.

So Beason by your logic, shouldn't be playing Mike because he can't pressure the quarterback, right??

Good thing we already have Beason

I guess if McDermott and Rivera think he can be great in this system, they must not think that blitzing is too hard to pick up.

Yeah forget that he is a one legged man at this point. Lets not bring in someone who can take over for him or fill in at Sam or Will when the inevitable injuries hit like they do every year.

what a cop out. your argument just got blown up

How so?

He compared him to Willis so he thinks he's better. Let's compare his stats to Curry....

Luke had 12 tackles for a loss in 2011 as a junior. Curry had 13.5 his junior year and 16 tackles for a loss his senior year by comparison

Luke had 3 Ints his junior year and 7 for his career, Curry had 1 his senior year ans 6 for his career. (3 TD's)

Kuechly had 0 forced fumbles in 2011 and 2 for his career, Curry had 1 his senior year and 5for his career.

He's right in line with him

Let's compare physical attributes...cuz thats what experts like P55 like to do...

Guess who is who

Height

6-2 vs 6-3

Weight

254 vs 242

Rating #1 vs Rating #1

40 Time

4.58 vs 4.52

vertical

38 vs 37

Bench

25 vs 27

shuttle

4.12 vs 4.51

Broad Jump

10-4 vs 10-3

3 cone

7.15 vs 6.92

hold on a minute. P55 was the one using stats to base his entire argument? Then why did he kill his own argument by saying that if we went by stats (sacks/blitz percentage), Beason wouldn't fit at MLB? P55, you can't just say stats matter then say "oh, but don't look at those other stats, they aren't important". They all don't mean anything.

That's what I get for coming in late. I am dense.
