Major Bobcats Announcement Coming Soon?

Recommended Posts

Have the Bobcats ever had sold out crowd? I never felt the excitement/energy with the Bobcats as we did with Hornets. Maybe im grasping at straws hoping by bring Hornets name back home will give us keast half the excitement and energy we once had.

Yes, they have on many occasions. Not to the level of the Hornets, but they have. Especially during the 2009-10 season.

Lies. Why didnt they bring back the Hornets name then?

Without Bob Johnsons money we wouldnt have a team. Without Bob MJ isnt involved in this organization. Be mad at Shinn for assaulting that poor girl. He ruined it for you NO Hornets fans. Theyre never coming back and few people will remember they were here. I cant find a single purple wasp on display uptown. Only that beautiful orange and blue cat. Each year that passes they become more and nore a distant memory. 10 years and counting!

Because they were in N.O. Bob Johnson was only 1 of several potential owners. If he didn't buy the franchise someone else would have.

Either way...funny thread

I grew up on the Hornets around a die-hard Chicago sports family...moved to Charlotte when I was a toddler and had season tickets almost every season from inception. Loved the BBQ at the games, Buzz, the damn fan noise meter, endured the Bobby Phills tragedy at a pretty young age, gotta see Mugsy & Larry too many times to count...it was just awesome.

Went to "pick" out my first Bobcats seats in person at the old Coliseum and that was literally it for me before they even played a game. Shin was a complete d*ck but he at least had it right for the first half of his run. This Bobcats thing beginning from the name "vote" to the damn season ticket choosing was terribly run and they had NO idea how to market for a evolving transplant SE-US city.

If they honestly can figure out a legit cost-benefit analysis of this situation, I'd support the Hornets coming back but I'm not a huge proponent for it because I love history but drive for the future. Its seems cliche but I'm just indifferent at this point. THe Bobcats have been here for 10 years and I'm back with my family's true colors hockey & basketball wise.

Sorry to disappoint some that want the name change, but there is no "major announcement" forthcoming. Per BobcatsPR on Twitter: B.J. Evans @BobcatsBballPR "FYI: a post on http://carolinahuddle.com indicating a big announcement is false. Trust this account and @bobcats for official info. about team." Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Nice try, B.J.

Much ado about nothing. You'd think after 3 years of bitching and crying and no changes they'd realize it's never gonna happen. But they keep torturing theirselves. LOL. I hope the Bobcats are paying attention to these "fans" who marginalize everything to do to prop up a New Orleans franchise. The last thing the Bobs need to do is pander to and accommodate these folks who give nothing, put no money up, but expect everything, and bash the folks who put up the most money (Bob Johnson). It was never about bringing back the Hornets, it was about erasing Bob and the Bobcats from Charlotte history. Thats it. If those fans want to support New Orleans no one is stopping them. But we shouldnt all have to suffer because they suck as basketball fans and dont take pride in Charlotte sports.

Been to quite a few Hornets and Bobcats games. I'd prefer that the NBA show the respect to the city and region that they should have shown when they took the whole Hornet franchise away. New Orleans didn't want that name they wanted a team and the NBA chose ownership in the fight and did exactly what George Shinn and Woolridge wanted to do, that was to screw Charlotte.

Trying to slither back into the market without addressing that slight was disrespectful to the citizens who invested their hard earned money and heart and soul into their Hornets. These people would like to pay homage to the players that gave us all they had night in and night out those people are just as much a part of us as the name and you took it all away. You throw us a piece of trash as a consolation prize in the process!? NBA you killed someone we loved did you think it would be that easy. Charlotte was tops in attendance for many years so...

I'm still a Bobcat fan because of the team itself and this city but much like a lot of people in NC, not so much a fan of the NBA. For the NBA to gain respect back in the region the could start by giving us our franchise and identity back!

I dont think its fair to blame the NBA for the Hornets leaving. The blame lies with Shinn and the Hornets who let their greed ruin them. Holding this city hostage for a new arena then threatening to leave if demands werent met is what led to their demise. Also blame the fans of Charlotte who turned their back on the Hornets. Check the attendance records their final 2 years here and in the playoffs and you'll see a city that showed just how unloyal they can be to their sports teams. They turned their back on "their team" over what the owner did, proving that they didnt really care about it. The Hornets were Shinn's baby, not Charlotte's. At that time, it was good riddance Hornets, good riddance NBA, we got Nascar and the Panthers! Now 10 years later, after the fact, people want to revise history and claim the Hornets belong to us. But the truth is, they dont. They've been in Oklahoma City and New Orleans since, they're just not unique to us anymore. The franchise is used damaged goods.
