Good signing. Our offense is stacked. Now can we do something about our defense...

Any legit source on the talk that Stewart flat out refused contract negotiations, or is that rumors?

Gantt, Reed, and Person have all advised Carolina has attempted mulitple times to address a new deal w/ Stewart.....Stewart and his peeps don't want to talk now.

Woah, LOL. I honestly didn't mean to come off as an asshole. I was just bustin your chops.

It's easy to misinterpret someone's tone on the innernet, it seems.

I understand Shockey/Olsen were asked to play the H-back role last season.

I don't understand what Tolbert has anything to do with the tight end position. Shockey/Olsen playing the role last season shouldn't mean that any fullback we bring in will play a similar role. If we wanted Tolbert to switch between the two positions, he wouldn't be 5'9".

I'll believe it when I see it lol

I think where it has an affect is we have another proven, productive player for the offense, in addition to Olsen, Barnridge and Brockel, who is also costing us money.

Obviously he wants to start, and he deserves a starting role. Stew is one of my fav Panthers, i would rather lose d-will if we have to lose one. Williams already had alot of miles on him coming out of college anyhow... Combine that with age, and that contract aaaarggh.

I think he wants a fat deal first and foremost. Can't fault him for it.

Kurb brought up a good point on twitter

If a player will command the kind of money making him a 3rd round comp pick for his former team, then he is the kind of back that should draw a minimum trade value of 2nd rounder.

Not really, most teams will figure why trade for him and loose a draft pick when he's refused to resign with Carolina and they can just wait to sign him in FA.

I just don't get why everyone is using this as a reflection on Hurney, pro or con.

There is no doubt in my mind that interest in Tolbert was driven by Chud and RR.

Don't like the signing? Then b!tch about Rivera or Chud...Hurney is just getting them what they asked for.

it's a decent point but the compensetory pick wouldn't be until 2014 and it would be at the end of the 3rd round, effectively between the 3rd and 4th round. plus there's no guarantee you'd get a 3rd and not a 4th/5th as the exact formula they use to determine that is kept secret. you should be able to garner more than that in a trade. if you can't though then yeah, hold on to him.

personally i'd take a 2nd + 5th without hesitation. love to have a late 1st but don't see that happening. if you don't trade him you're stuck trying to outbid everyone when he hits free agency, paying more than what DWill got most likely or losing him for nothing except a pending future compensetory pick. neither of those are good options, so take what you can get and move on. use the money/picks to bolster the defense. our RBs are a luxury not a need, shift some of that emphasis into fixing the actual needs.
