Panthers Agree With Tolbert On 4 Year Deal

Tolbert improves third and long pass protection

Tolbert can run FB and is a good blocker

Tolbert is a stud on special teams

Tolbert caught 50+ passes last year

Tolbert improves our goal line and short yardage packages

Tolbert gives us insurance

This team is getting good on special teams and physical. Goodson is the odd man out--he has been for a year. Until the puzzle is assembled, I reserve judgement. If Brown signs, we could be finished on offense, leaving the draft to fix the Defense. Bold move.

Don't care what Person's "sources" say. I will be very surprised in Stewart in a Panther this season.

If he is, then this signing is stupid. There are only so many touches in the running game. Adding another RB to the stable does nto improve our running game unless someone gets injured.

I still expect to see Stewart traded before the start of the season.

Good info. Notice the emphasis on toughness and special teams. Maybe he will be more of a blocking back/special teamer here.

I seriously don't think he's Stewart's replacement, Stewart is ten times the RB Tolbert is.

I'd love to see how this convo went down with hurney and some of you as coaches. So mike we see what you did in a chargers uniform as a starter and we'd like to offer you a nice pay cut from what you could be getting and a nice warm bench spot. You could be our new brockel. You saw that one play where we did that thing right? How's that sound?

He will open up the offense where Brockel couldnt. If he was just gunna be a running back here why would he take a cut in pay just to play running back? This just proves to me that hes gunna be doing some creative stuff that will be fun for him. FB could create some serious miss matches bro

I think before the draft. Are we going to have $20 million invested in a position (next year) that averages 21 carries a game? Silly, considering the team is starved at nearly every defensive position. Are we going to watch Stew walk away like Connor, who should have been dealt last year? I see this team developing into RR's image, and Hurney is going to have to step aside a bit.

Tolbert has fumble problems, 7 fumbles in the past two years.

yeah, but Tolbert is a special teams beast and a heck fo a pass blocker. Tolbert is also a bowling ball at the goalline.

Goodson sucks on special teams and is one of the worst RBs we have ever seen in pass protection in a Panther uniform.

tolbert is going to be taking the place of goodson and probably the FB and he also brings another ST stud. dude has been a leader in ST tackles on the charger for several years.

Tolbert is NOT taking the place of Goodson. Goodson was not even ACTIVE for most games.

There is no way that we carry all three RB's. There is no way that Tolbert signed here to be a FB.

We will all have to wait and see.....but my money is on a trade.

Well then Tolbert is the replacement for Vaughan.

Do you really feel safe with Brockel playing TE if either Barnidge or Olsen go down? I feel we would keep Hartstock, or more likely cut Brockel and Hartstock and bring another pass-catching TE.

Ok let's not predict who on the current roster will get cut, like I was doing, since we don't know who we will sign in the future. Let me go into the future with my time machine real quick and find out who we will sign, then i will be right back to tell you who we will cut.

Some how Hurney will end up trading either DeAngelo or Stew to Foxy out in Denver... to fit with Peyton... if so, what a joke!

Shidd, like I said they willingly to give a 1st. Gotta do it. 2 picks on D in the 1st. Im all for it. And we picked 8 in 2nd right.... all D picks

Not true at all. He was a first rounder to begin with who has outperformed his contract. I could see Fox or Ryan giving up a first for him. Particularly next year's.

Cleveland (4,22), Cincinatti (17,21), and New England (27,31) all have two 1st round picks.

All would be crazy NOT to want a proven guy like Stewart with the 22nd (Cleveland), 21st (Cincy), or 27th (N.E.) pick. Especially Cincy or N.E. who would be taking some pressure off of there young QB (Dalton) or their old vet (Brady)>
