Lardarius Webb Question

Yea, I brought this idea up a while ago. If we could do it after the draft and give up next year's 1st for it I'd be more comfortable with it, since I expect our picks will be lower next year. Giving up a top 10 pick for a merely "good" CB (especially when there's a chance, however minute, of landing Claiborne for the same cost pick-wise and paying him less and probably having him for longer and Claiborne will likely be better than Webb) and having to pay him second contract money isn't the best idea though, in my opinion.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't think I'd do it. We already paid our last wave of good draft picks (kalil, beason, johnson, williams, etc) and we sort of need another wave of good young players to come in through the draft if we want to sustain success for a while. Webb is obviously a more proven commodity than anybody in the draft, but if we get a couple of these picks right we will be a better team.

Webb isn't just a good player, he's is one of the best coverage corners in the game. In addition can play both the slot and outside without a drop in production.

Assuming he plays like he has, then I'd think he be we'll worth the pick.

However, this assumes that the FO believes Cb is as big as a need and there intent on drafting Claiborne. Also Claiborne would be younger, and cheaper.

Would rather have claiborne if he were to fall to us

If you are in win now mode, you may try and make this deal. We, on the other hand, are in building mode.

We have a good veteran mix. We need the younger bodies to keep the cycle going. So far, we have signed only young players. I would expect this trend to continue. Young talent is cheaper. It also insures your future.
