Mike Tolbert mentioned as a possible FA? Eh?

I love it, he's one of the guys I wanted us to get. If he is replacing Brockel, fantastic. Gives Cam another weapon with a nose for the endzone.

Although I do have a feeling that this means either Goodson or Stew will be on their way out. I know Stew said he wanted to be here before but idk anymore.

Could have a Saints type of RB rotation, only 1 of the RBs is making ALOT more than the others....

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner. Only one RB makes big money. Man, you guys are finally starting to get the way the NFL is currently operating.

A trade of Stew gives me a great amount of hope for this organization.

The Stewart trade makes sense, even though I don't want to see him go, it will be hell to try and pay him and DWill, because that will put us even further in cap trouble, also Josh Vaughn IMO is another power back that has been on the bench waiting his turn, I believe it was the Bucs game, he came in and was trucking fools late in the game, but i know it was the Bucs, but still, Im pretty sure Vaughn and Williams will continue the double trouble.

Again - If we can sign Tolbert to a reasonable contract, I wouldnt mind trading Stewart. Im one of Stews biggest fans, but we would still have a great 1-2 punch in DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert, and we wouldnt then have a guy in Stewart who could get us another 2nd round pick, if not a 1st.

Its basically whats best for us:

1- Going with Williams and Stewart and our current draft position

2- Signing Tolbert for cheap, trading Stewart for draft picks

Option #2 is better, and again, im a huge Stewart fan.

As much as I would hate to see Stewart go, I believe he deserves a feature back role. I hope if we get Tolbert that it's to give J Stew that opportunity. He and Deangelo are class acts and I am so glad they are panthers but the timeshare doesn't do either one of them justice. Stewart deserves to be paid and if gettting a guy like Tolbert allows him to go to a team to showcase his talents then I'm all for it. I just hope we can get reasonable return for him. He should to go to a team like the Steelers that rely on the run and he can showcase his talent.

One thing needs to be pointed out. I repeatedly see on here people talking about how Stewart is our best receivng option out of the backfield.

Many are forgetting that coming into 2011, DWill was our "receiving RB", not Stewart.

Not saying one or the other is better, but just because Stew did this more in 2011, doesn't mean DWill can't.

More about pass protection. In order to get the reps recieving in this scheme you have to be a good pass protector. Williams is not good at that.
