Nakamura Signed

Hate to see him go, he has been one of my favorite players the last few years. He deserves more playing time than he was getting here though so I don't blame him at all. If he wins a starting job, I think he'll be solid for the Panthers. Good luck Haruki, I'll always remember you pointing out Reggie Brown pre-snap to make sure Reed noticed on his record INT return for a TD in '08.

From Ravens board

Philadelphia had second-and-goal at the Ravens' 1-yard line, which seemed to suggest the Eagles would run the ball. But backup safety Haruki Nakamura pointed out to Reed that wide receiver Reggie Brown, instead of a tight end, was lining up at the end of the line, tipping Philadelphia's hand that a pass was coming.

Remaining patient, Reed kept his eye on Brown running his route before running in front of him to make his 37th career interception, tops in team history.

Couple of reasons I am good with this pick-up. The number one would be he has understudied Ed Reed for 3 or 4 years. Something has to have run off. Two he seems hungry and should push if not pass Martin. Third and probably something no one has mentioned. At #9 in the draft there really isn't a safety worthy of that high of a pick. At 40 there are going to be 1st round talent available. Since we don't have a 3rd Nakamura is probably going to be better than any other Safety we pick up. (Without breaking the bank)

Carolina Panthers ‏ @Panthers

Hurney: “We just think he's a very good football player… Haruki is a good young player that has played in a lot of different spots."

Hurney: "Defensively he's very smart, and he has a lot of position flexibility. We think he can compete at the safety position."

Hurney on Nakamura: "He's also an excellent special teams player, and he plays the game with a lot of passion."

Me too.

Seems that Ravens fans really liked him...

Noooooo!!! :( I've always liked Haruki

So did I, great ball skills and zone awareness. It'll be interesting to see how he does as a starter.

Wow. Not really shocked by this but dang we are losing some quality players. Is McClain next???
