Blues @ Canes

last ten:

St. Louis Blues (8-1-1)

Carolina Hurricanes (3-3-4)

In the newly renamed PNC Arena, the number one team in the league came to Raleigh to face the twenty fifth and the outcome was not what one would suspect for this inaugural game. Cam Ward faced 40 shots and stopped them all in rout to a 2-0 Canes victory in front of a loud and full Caniac crowd. It was a tough defensive battle that saw a plethora of excitement from both teams but eventually took two and a half periods for someone to break the ice (so to speak). Chad Larose scored on a wrap around that deflected off of a Blues defenseman and into the net behind goalie Brian Elliot for his 15th goal of the season. It was an ugly scrappy goal, but it counts just as well as any other. Once he scored it only took five more minutes to tally one of his own to all-but seal the win at home. That goal, unlike Larose's, was a thing of beauty as Skinner collected the loose puck with his right skate, kicked it to his stick blade and roofed it over a sprawling Elliot. (Video below)

With the shutout, Cam ties the franchise record with Irbe for 20 shutouts. Cam won his 200th career game.
