More dwill contract rant

The combo of D will and Stewart was hard to beat toward the end of the year.

Once Deangelo Williams got acclimated to the read option that Stewart is very familiar with from the Ducks he was dynamic.

D Will was frustrating to watch in the begining of the year because he was lined up differently, had reads..no real offseason to really prepare for it.

As others have said, no one knew Newton would play at that level... i was really optomistic about Newtons abilities and was hoping for a young Josh Freeman ceiling with 15 tds 15 ints..

In order to develop a young rookie QB a strong running game was essential.

After 4000 yrds we are all in on AIR CHUD but that ground game frees up that coverage and creates large seams in the secondary.

If Stewart(the better of the two backs) got hurt and we let Deangelo Williams go...what would we be saying?

....with all that said..he got a deal only we would have offered. If it costs the Panthers J Stew then it will be a really bad move that ties up our cap..

NEWTON WILL GET MEGATRON- Manning money...the cap needs to be really flexible in three years.

Williams hardly ever ran the read option stuff even late....they would put him on the field and let Cam pitch it out to him (often with Cam/Stewart doing the read option sucking in everyone in and then taking the pitch).

24 franchises haven't had great QB play over the last in the last 10 years.

Right, but I'm willing to bet a majority did when they had back to back winning seasons. My point is lack of a franchise quarterback has probably been the biggest thing keeping us from having back to back winning seasons. Not that we constantly hand out bad contracts.

All you people that believe that we will let Stew get away? Where you coming from? You complain that we paid DWill too much? But are afraid we won't pay Stew at all? This would be funny if it were not so sad.

In three years or so, when DWill is gone. You will be whining because the guy we have behind Stew is poo. "Why don't we spend money on a quality back up for Stew"? Or, "If we don't get a quality back up for Stew he is going to get killed." I can see it now.

It may be a passing league, but we are not a passing team. Why is that so hard to understand? If you think Cameron will be throwing for over 4500 yards, you are sadly mistaken.

We want to be a balanced Offense. That means both passing and running. Having two quality backs keeps you productive. It allows you to keep your backs fresh. And believe it or not, it prolongs your backs careers. All those are good for your team. Finding fault with this concept is just plain goofy to me.

As a past whiner, I get it. Whiners love to whine. Just do not expect people to change their minds because of a whine. Whining is a self important approach to interpersonal communication, because it is a me first attitude. Don't worry. Once you grow up and get married it disappears.

Sorry for the rant. But whining about Double Trouble is definately rant worthy.

Go Double Trouble, and GOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

signing d-will to such a high contract was a message to carolina players and other players around the league that jerry will pay you if you perform. his loyalty was in question during the CBA fiasco and that contract shut everyone up and nipped any rumblings of discontentment in the bud.

hell, other teams' players got pissed about it and complained that their owners weren't as loyal as jerry.

the average huddle ranter may not be able to see anything other than short-term gain, but jerry is after long-term satisfaction, and that's what the d-will contract was all about.

You may be correct but lets see how it equates into wins and losses. The proof will be in the pudding.

Nothing wrong with DWill. Good guy, great back, great influence on teammates.

As has been said, he is signed, cannot be traded, water under the bridge. Cannot cut.

We will not have the money for Stewart, fact, fact, fact. Another good guy, but we will not be able to resign him. We should recognize that he does have great value and trade him

No, that message could of been sent with deals to Johnson, Beason, and Kalil alone. Carolina has never been cheap...athletes no that and Jerry proved OT again to ESPN.

In a way it is funny you say those against Williams' deal only look short term rather than long term...when the basis of being against that contract was looking big picture. DWill contract long term handicaps a team over investing in a position of weakening importance...and that hurts a teams ability to compete in the big picture.

Trading Stewart and moving forward with a 29 yr old RB who doesn't fit the scheme....would make cutting Kasay for Mare look smart. Flat out dumb.

Williams will be cut after this year if that is what it takes I keep a healthy Stewart

the problem i have with williams's contract is carolina is now on the hook for at least $43 million to keep stewart.

that is retarded.

they really should bite the bullet and trade him/let him walk.

Carolina made a mistake with Williams. Letting Stewart walk would be making a mistake an even bigger one. Cut Williams after this year and pay Stewart what he is holding out for....at that time Williams will be a role player and one that doesn't even fit what we do well

So you figure we can just cut Williams and not have any effect on the cap?
