I am still excited about having D'Will around. Last season was without a doubt started with getting the offense installed, and letting Cam air it out. As the season progressed they started to run the ball more, get more balance, and if I recall correctly D'Will (along with Stewart) were intergral and made big plays.

D'Will still has at least several years in him, has big play ability, and with a full off season to work on the offense, etc going into next season I can see the running game of D'Will and Stewart starting off the season where they were at the end of the last one.

This is a discussion that until time goes on and it plays out will we ever know what the "right" decisions were.

Lol at Goodson picking up the slack for D Will. I'm glad Goodson didn't get much burn last year. We would be bashing him the same way we do Mare, cause lord knows his fumblitis could've cost us a few games. I didn't like the dwill contract but its over and done now. No use in continuing to bring this up

Goodson would have picked up that slack, rushing for 836 yards isn't exactly hard.
Yeah..so easy no running back with 155 carries or less came close to that total.

The only thing Goodson would have been trying to pick up would have been fumbled footballs. We all know how fun that is to watch.

And the majority had great quarterback play for those periods, which was my point.

24 franchises haven't had great QB play over the last in the last 10 years.

Point I was making, clearly something we are doing isn't working right....you can point to all those other teams as well who haven't done it and say the same.

The combo of D will and Stewart was hard to beat toward the end of the year.

Once Deangelo Williams got acclimated to the read option that Stewart is very familiar with from the Ducks he was dynamic.

D Will was frustrating to watch in the begining of the year because he was lined up differently, had reads..no real offseason to really prepare for it.

As others have said, no one knew Newton would play at that level... i was really optomistic about Newtons abilities and was hoping for a young Josh Freeman ceiling with 15 tds 15 ints..

In order to develop a young rookie QB a strong running game was essential.

After 4000 yrds we are all in on AIR CHUD but that ground game frees up that coverage and creates large seams in the secondary.

If Stewart(the better of the two backs) got hurt and we let Deangelo Williams go...what would we be saying?

....with all that said..he got a deal only we would have offered. If it costs the Panthers J Stew then it will be a really bad move that ties up our cap..

NEWTON WILL GET MEGATRON- Manning money...the cap needs to be really flexible in three years.
