More dwill contract rant

FA so far.

All WR's and CB's are long gone because it is now a passing league

All RB's are still sitting around waiting to get signed because again, passing league.

But here in Panther land, we still don't get it. We want to invest three times the amount of money the rest of the league is spending in a stable of RB's that we won't use. Stupid.

Ummm no. Its because the free agent class of runningbacks is much worse than the wr and cb class. Unless that you want to argue that Vincent Jackson is equal to Peyton Hillis or that Mike Tolbert is as good as Cortland Finnegan. But whatever keeps you pity party going is cool.

Yes, you need balance. Williams' deal has nothing to do with balance.

Cam+Stewart+ young cheap RB who fits scheme is as better rushing attack than almost every team in the NFL would have.

Rules have changed and it is easier to produce in the air...which means you need better defensive talent since the rules handicap them

Saying it over and over still doesn't make it true. It is your opinion which is not shared by the team, front office or the coaching staff.

BtW what killed us more last year, stopping the run or the pass. Seems if passing is all that matters and running is passe, then we would not have struggled so much stopping the run.

No one questions that you need a defense that can stop the run or the pass, but if you can only do I or the other teams load up against you in whatever area you suck. No matter whether this is a passing league or not, you need a balanced attack.

And D william's contract is not the reason we can't sign anyone on defense this offseason. That kind of logic is beyond naive. We will likely have as much money in dead cap space this year as we will spend on him.

it is not an opinion that the rules have changed.

it is not an opinion that it is now easier to pass in this league b/c of such rules.

it is not an opinion defensive talent has to be better than prior to the rule change to stop passing attacks due to being handicapped.

the Jake Delhomme contract was dumb...just b/c Hurney gave it to him...doesn't mean it wasn't.

Never have I said Williams' contract is THE reason we can't sign anyone on D. It was a poor use of money in today's NFL considering our roster. It could of been used on defensive talent (and depth)...which overall would be better for this team.

Or he was 35% of the rushing attack but accounted for 60% of the salary invested in rushers.

Beason and Davis accounted for 1% of the tackles last year but cost 70% of the money spent on linebackers.

Sherrod Martin accounted for the same number of interceptions and had 23 more tackles than Gamble last year but will cost 1/12 as much in cap hit for 2012- so using your quantity stat model he is 12 times better than Gamble.

Right?????

Now it is so clear................................

the Jake Delhomme contract was dumb...just b/c Hurney gave it to him...doesn't mean it wasn't. Unsupported Opinion which has been debunked ad nauseum

Did they not teach you the difference between a fact and opinion in 3rd grade?? Right after reality/fantasy.

using your usage of what is fact vs. just supported opinion....means you basically are willing to claim most things are just supported opinion. Doesn't really matter....those things I listed are supported with STRONG FACTS and form what is an educated opinion carried by most. Nitpicking that doesn't really do you much good.

Just b/c you can find a short term positive of the Jake deal.....doesn't make it not a dumb deal overall. Hindsight helps confirm such things.

If you choose to throw common sense out the window and refuse to acknowledge DeAngelo's money couldn't of been better invested elsewhere....then that is you simply choosing to do so. You and I both know we had more rushing talent than most teams w/o DeAngelo and tons of weaknesses on D even if Beason was healthy.

Yeah, let's waste time arguing it's not a fact that it is easier to pass in the NFL since the rule changes....

Let's also argue it is debatable the defensive talent doesn't need to be better to make for how the league has handicapped them.

DWill's money could have been spent better. Delhomme's extension lowered the cap hit.

yes and yes. I didn't say there wasn't a single positive in Delhomme's extension....it just had more negatives. As in they extended a QB who was finished and paid him big bucks while in a Browns uniform.
