Does this team draft well?

Does this team keep the proper players on its squad?

Does this team manage FA's well?

Does this team manage its cap well?

I am sorry I ask what I feel is obvious, however if that makes me less of a fan.... Im good with that........anything else woudl be like drinking the coolaid from the wacko in waco.

nearly every single analysis said that Blaine Gabbert should go #1 instead of Cam

this is a distortion of reality. last year, most analysts said Gabbert was the better quarterback prospect but that he did NOT warrant #1. Most said we should go with peterson or dareus or green... I do not think very many at all said we should go with Gabbert who did not change their mind to someone else after, and Gabbert was #1 on literally nobody's big board... of course, cam wasn't on most of those guys either, so...

fwiw, Hurney gambled. People think that he didn't because Cam turned out so well, but the reality is he took a chance. obviously he was sure it was going to pay off after meeting with him etc and that is how it should be when you are taking a guy #1 overall, but I think people still should give Hurney credit.

Yes thank god the Panthers don't spend silly money on players like other bad teams... oh wait didn't they gave CJ 72m and DWill 43m? And who can forget Jake's infamous contract? Look let's not pretend this FO is perfect. The team has won eight games in two seasons. That's due to a lack of talent. This whole "build through the draft!" thing is ridiculous because EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE DOES THAT. Only some teams are much better at it than others (Packers/Steelers/Giants). Hurney deserves credit for nailing the Cam pick and hopefully the trend continues this year.

I will answer all your questions with a resounding, better than most.

There are basically two reasons to be heavy hitters in FAcy. To build a team around your young, or aging, QB. Or to find your fanchise QB. It is the win now syndrome. If you have a franchise QB there is pressure to win. If you do not have a franchise QB, there is pressure to find one.

Cam is in his second year, with a full off-season. If he continues to improve, we could sniff the playoffs.

If half our injured players return to form, we could be serious playoff contenders.

If we can get an impact from our draft and FA pick-ups, we could be competitive.

We have too many holes to go FA shopping. Once the holes are minimized, we can actually target which specific FA we want to add.

Next year is the year we will make a run at the right FAs that can fill out our roster, and get us over that hump.

Lastly, I do believe you got your massacres mixed up. No biggy for me, but the perfect police could get on you.

Just a thought or two. And GOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are a good team, and have a franchise QB. Chances are you are up against the cap.

The ONLY ways to add talent is through the draft, or low level FAs. We are a year or two away from elite, but we too are struggling with the cap.

Because, you only get so many chances to upgrade. (The better teams are productive while doing so.) It is imperative that we are capable of doing so ourselves.

You do your due diligence. You plan for the best, but expect the worst. And you do your best, and let the chips fall where they may. I like our chances. Rivera KNOWS what he wants, and Hurney will do everything within his power to provide.

I will say this, this has been a successful FA period if it causes Claiborne to slip to us in the draft. Claiborne has a lot of Leon Hall/Darrelle Revis type stuff in him. So I'm not too disgruntled about that.:D
