There HAS to be a trade coming with Peppers.

Actually Peppers stated well before free agency that he wanted out of Carolina and said if tagged... first thing he'd be doing is asking for a trade. Before this off-season, he turned down a lucrative contract extension...

He starts to bicker with the front office and what do they do? They try to lock him up against his will... So, yea... they should suffer.

I don't get it. Your reasons behind saying Peppers HAS to be traded is that he might get hurt or have a bad year next year? If anything, the cap space freed up by extending Delhomme makes keeping him even more of a viable option.

I'm not saying he definitely won't be traded. I think it has alot to do with what offers we get. If no good offers surface, I think we'd be happy to have him for '09 even if it means his value is a bit lower next offseason due to being a year older.

I'm looking at this strictly from a ROI angle.

Value NOW vs next year. He will be 30 next year.

This is Carolina's last year to try to get any solid value out of Peppers... even as overpriced as it is right now, his stock goes in the toilet next year regardless because of his age.

Carolina has did this to themself and its likely they won't get any value for Peppers after this season.

Yeah his value is lower next offseason, but we get him to play for an extra year. I mean, by that logic, DWill has huge trade value right now... so let's get a ton of picks for him before he gets hurt or gets too old.

Not to mention, whose to say Pep doesn't have a monster year and we get an even better offer next offseason. Just sayin...

Carolina could only do so much. The onyl other option was to let him walk and there was no way they could allow that. If Peppers signed his Tender they could have traded him but without it signed they cant even do that without going through his agent. So he locked the Panthers up in a no win situation. If Peppers doesnt get dealt before the draft he will after it.

I don't blame Carolina's strategy on how they handled things... it was basically they were down to their last resort, I can respect that.. I just think its crap how people give Peppers such a bad perception on this board and act like he's been doing something against the Panthers when he's handled everything in his career like a professional, atleast up to this dispute on him wanting out so bad.

Peppers should suck it up, take his money and leave... but the Panthers have no shame in disgracing Peppers legacy as a Panther either... so they both need to just stick with each other till he retires.

I think Peppers and Carolina have a much better relationship than people think. I also think despite the 4 team list there is maybe 1 or 2 teams Peppers wanted to play for outside of Carolina (and there is nothing wrong w/ that).......it may not have been realistic and he could easily retire a Panthers despite all the uproar. It is a business and in order for it to have had a shot it had to go down this road.......

Realistically, Peppers could easily be the best DE we will ever see in Carolina....yet people like to act like he is garbage for wanting to take another job and initiate it himself. Nothing wrong w/ it. Hope Pep stays. We are one or two tweaks away from being a legit SB contender w/ the talent we currently have....losing Pep is a huge step backwards in regards to next season.
