The Claiborne Watch

Top level corners are a commodity in this lg, there are only a handful and i would say taking one side of the field away is pretty dominant, while other than QB, those other positions can be game planned around.

huh?

I dont even know where to start with that comment. I dont know how you responded with that from. . what I said.

Edit: I tried to read again, man, but I dont get you. Are you saying you cant game plan around a corner? really?

Right. The most dominant DT's, DE's and LB's aren't effective when quarterbacks can quickly dump it off because we can't cover(Munnerlyn).

Corners arent effective when you can simply run the ball up the middle, or just ignore that corner entirely and throw to someone else. . . . like teams did to us last year.

Are you blaming our defense on Capt? hahaha wtf is this?

That's why you start two good corners and not force a nickle corner to do more than he should be required to.

No one should believe the play of the defense was due to Munnerlyn. Doesn't help that we didn't have a consistent pass rush and couldn't stop the run.

So what happens if we draft Claiborne and he ends up getting beat in camp by both Munnerlyn and Hogan? Mass suicide watch?

Same thing that happens if we draft Cox or Fletcher and McClain, Fua, Nesblett, or Shirley beats him out. Start the best guys. Haven't seen anything to suggest Munnerlyn is a better long term solution than Claiborne though so I would still draft Claiborne.

Nope I didnt say you cant, i just simply put that the few great corners do have a great impact on teams, where you suggested they didnt. Of course you can game plan around a corner as well, but again, you can almost eliminate one side of the field with a great corner. Pair another one with Gamble, that is very nice, especially in this division. I thought it was pretty elementary.

mmmk I agree with not starting a nickel corner at the 2. . Im not sure how that translates to "Corners are a commodity in this (league)". I can tell you that top DE's and QB's are more valuable and so are DT's. Take a look at the top price tags for each position and explain to me why no corner makes 100 million like Haynesworth (DT), Manning (QB), or Super Mario (DE).

I guess Im not patient enough to have these conversations so I'll leave it at that. There are plenty of other guys here that can explain it better than me.

You simply asked what % do they have, I'm not ignorant enough to try to give you a number. If you cant understand what that means then we can both just give up. There are only a handful of great corners anyway.

please use your time more wisely.

ok, Mr AntsInYourPants, here we go. . .

I understand. . that you . . . have not read my post. . or mistranslated it. I said. . . corners do not impact. . as much. . as those other positions. What I didnt say, was. . corners dont impact a game.

The reason is because corners do not need to be accounted for. .as much. . by the offense on running plays. There may be more passing in this age of football, but corners are not the sole line of defense for a pass attack. You have D linemen and blitzing dogs. This makes the overall value of a corner lower than a position like DE or DT for example. It is MUCH more rare to find a 6'6 beast who runs like a gazelle than a 5'10 guy who runs a 4.4

Maybe the next time your tone switches to some bullshit about questioning someones understanding, youll think twice.

Oh and btw, I didnt ask about what % they have. . whatever the fug that means. I asked how much more you think Revis impacts a game than Peyton Manning et al. A rough guess was implied Einstein, I dont need to see your calculations.
