The Claiborne Watch

Name a starting CB for the Vikings with out Google. Look at their division - All pass first offenses and their Pass D was almost as bad as ours. Brandon Marshall, Jennings, Calvin....they cannot cover them with anyone on their team.

If Claiborne isnt as good as PP7 was then should he really be considered a top 5 pick? 6-8 seems to be the range if he's gonna go before us. I think Claiborne drops to us, 90% chance on my bullchittin around o' meter.

what am I reading?

Coverage skills: Claiborne >>> PP7

Return skills: PP7 >>> Claiborne

hmm so what are the odds that someone wants to trade to the 3 spot then and who would they trade for?. . . besides corner for speculation purposes.

I was informed otherwise. Wasnt Peterson compared to Revis in potential?

thats what i thought also. people like mike lombardi says hes not clearly as good as PP7 , but then why is everyone saying hes the best cb. peterson was horrible last year if not for his ST plays.

but clearly a huge need for us and seems like hes bpa

Long learning curve for cbs.Prince Aukemoria or whatever his name was was thrown at all year long as well.No magic bullet drafting a cb the 1st year.

This is why I never really like to take a CB in the top half of the 1st round... especially not in the Top Ten picks.

Hey, just because they're in the top 10 doesn't mean they're overrated.

Deon Sanders was pretty good.

If evaluators for the Panthers thinks he's good enough for top 10, and he falls to us, I'm fine with it.

in terms of pure athleticism, peterson is an absolute freak. insane top end speed, burst add to the fact he's extremely large for a CB with good tackling technique and he's a homerun threat with the ball in his hands. coming out of college peterson reminded people of charles woodson.

in terms of pure measurables and potential, peterson is pretty much unmatched by any CB to come out of college in the past half decade (or more).

unfortunately none of that dictates if u will be a good corner or poor corner in the nfl. revis is considered the best CB in the game, yet he isn't known for being a physical freak. he's rather average sized for a corner and doesn't have an elite 40 time.

if claiborne is considered to be a more consistent, coverage oriented DB than PP7 was, then I'm all for getting him.

Oh, I got no problem with whoever we pick even if it is a corner.

I've just been wary of high-pick corners for most of my middle-aged life. Neon Deion was a once in a life-time player.
