People need to stop comparing 2003's offseason to this one, we had a fuging elite defense we had Peppers, Rucker, Jenkins, Morgan, Minter, Witherspoon, etc. Not even comparable to the poo we have even with INJURED players coming back.

Since when do we only build through the draft? You keep saying that but we added quite a few guys last year through free agency and later in the season. We even traded for Olsen as well. What we do is draft our superstars while they are cheap on a rookie contract like Newton and add reasonably priced free agents.

To draft superstars you have to pick early which means you suck.I really did not mean to say we get players only through the draft. I guess I was hoping that we could have restructured enough cap to upgrade a position of need and we still may.

Davis left us with a hole bc he couldn't play...OLB should of already been addressed with another body

RBs are a dime a dozen and it isn't like pass protection is something Williams is very good at. In addition we have a stud on the roster who fits ideally in this scheme....and it is a passing league

Peppers should of been dealt instead of being tagged

that same DE was coming off 2.5 sacks and speculated health problems...

as do I.. I was against resigning DWill, and voiced that all last year.. I hope the rumors are true that his contract was front loaded...

in what world would John Fox have cut Wharton? I think our coach determines just as much of player personnel..

I hope so. If we lose Stewart because of DWill's contract, I will be crushed.

Rivera seems to be very much about proving your worth every year, and if you can't then it's time to move on. Lets hope it translates to our acquisitions in the future.

*Edit* Just saw this was my 666th post. Bad ju-ju. haha.

last time I checked Chris Johnson didn't get a big paycheck to be the 2nd best RB on his team.......

Passing league. None of these elite RBs are helping teams win championships. Rings aren't won today by investing in a backfield and making the ground attack your primary weapon.

Elite RBs aren't on every corner but we have arguably 2 on our roster...and I can't name the last Superbowl champ that had even 1 elite RB on that championship squad.

could of gotten a lot more for Peppers after that season in a trade than we ended up getting.

I thought that might be your response.. but tell me why Fox would trade Peppers for a 5-7th round pick in place of 14.5 sacks when his job was on the line?

who wants players playing who don't want to play for you? Who wants to pay guys 1M per game who want out?

No way we just get a 5th or 7th for Pep either. DEs are too valuable even w/ 1 bad year on the resume.

we can debate what he was worth, we can debate why keep a player around who doesn't want to stay, but I think you're going to have a hard time trumping the fact that John Fox was trying to save his job and wasn't about to let 14.5 sacks walk out of the door when the heat was on....
