NFL Free Agency Trades/Signings

Oh, I've been around for a while and seen many drafts (not saying I'm "smarter" or "better" than you are with regard to draft philosophy, just saying I've observed my share).

And special running backs with the "entire" package? Yeah, you draft those guys in the 1st round and often in the Top Ten.

You think the Vikings regret using a 7th overall pick on Adrian Peterson? Was J-Stew a "reach" at the 13th overall (I don't think so)? This is the kind of player that I think Trent Richardson can be. And to back that up with a little cred, I'm saying that as an AUBURN fan.

You're right that a lot of RB's chosen in the upper half turn out to be busts. Probably more don't turn out well than do. But that doesn't mean you pass up on a special talent if your philosophy is BPA. And, if Richardson falls to the 9th pick, I think there's a legit argument that he would be the BPA.

(Notice how I was able to go an entire post explaining my position without saying or implying your were stupid?)

If you were to list the top 5 RBs currently in the NFL and then do a ring count....how many rings would you have?

The days of building around a ground attack is dying. Passing league...better to invest elsewhere. Rules have dictated that.

Dan Marino would have rings in this era.

List the top 5 WRs in the league and how many rings do they have?

Guess we don't need a good receiver either.

Hell, list the top 5 LTs and how many rings do they have?

Top 5 DEs and have many rings do they have?

Top 5 DTs and how many rings do they have?

It seems to be more of a quarterback's game. Although I still don't know what to do with Eli. Dude has a weird career going.

Top 5 QBs have a lot...and with the new rules they don't feed one WR like back in the day....they pick teams apart with tons of players bc the rules make it where pretty good recieving options are dangerous with a QB.

10-15 years ago if you named the top 5 RBs you would find rings....lucky to find playoff wins today with them.

You specifically were talking about draftin RBs high...I just dont see what in today's NFL suggests teams should make that the focus of there offense anymore. Those teams don't win like they did before the rule change. Seems like if you need to sacrfice and be weak somewhere....the backfield is the place to be it.

That wasn't me. That was someone else. I don't want Richardson at #9. I just felt, no offense intended, your logic against Richardson was/is terrible. It's not guys like Peterson and MJD's fault that their QBs suck.

Why would drafting a RB mean you have to make him the "focus of your offense"?

If you draft a first round LT, does that mean you run behind him on every run play?

If you draft a first round WR or TE, does that mean you throw the ball to him exclusively?
