NFL Free Agency Trades/Signings

NFL Network's @JasonLaCanfora @michaelombardi both say Mario Williams will sign w/ the #Bills tonight. #NFL

That's that...

The Bills want to make Williams the highest-paid defensive player in the league, with a deal better than the six-year, $91.5 million contract that Julius Peppers signed with the Bears in 2010. The Bills’ offer to Williams will apparently include more than $91.5 million in total money, more than the $40.5 million in the first three years that the Bears gave Peppers, and more than the $42 million guaranteed that the Bears gave Peppers.

Doubt it' date=' the Bucs know Ronde is burnt toast. If they have a chance to grab Claiborne and have a trio of Talib, Claiborne and Wright in the pass happy NFC South they will take it IMO. Either that or signing Wright and drafting Talib gives them insurance in case Talib can't keep his gun in his pants....[/quote']

This year the Bucs are going all offense in the draft. They will address CB and DT in FA.

Either you don't watch football closely, or you were part of a front office during the 70's.

You do not have to spend 1st round draft picks on RB's. You do however have to spend them on CB, DE, DT, OT, QB, WR, etc....

Oh, I've been around for a while and seen many drafts (not saying I'm "smarter" or "better" than you are with regard to draft philosophy, just saying I've observed my share).

And special running backs with the "entire" package? Yeah, you draft those guys in the 1st round and often in the Top Ten.

You think the Vikings regret using a 7th overall pick on Adrian Peterson? Was J-Stew a "reach" at the 13th overall (I don't think so)? This is the kind of player that I think Trent Richardson can be. And to back that up with a little cred, I'm saying that as an AUBURN fan.

You're right that a lot of RB's chosen in the upper half turn out to be busts. Probably more don't turn out well than do. But that doesn't mean you pass up on a special talent if your philosophy is BPA. And, if Richardson falls to the 9th pick, I think there's a legit argument that he would be the BPA.

(Notice how I was able to go an entire post explaining my position without saying or implying your were stupid?)
