I'm collecting an archive of threads from this offseason and I can't wait to post excerpts from them after we go 6-10 next season and Jake has his worst year ever.

Some of you people will have to leave the Huddle permanently in shame.

AGAIN - Don't just complain, threaten to say 'I told you so' when you haven't really said anything but to complain - give us a better plan than extending Jake's contract! What would you have done feasibly differently AND better?

If we go 6-10 next year and Jake has his worst year ever, I will leave this forum. Save it, keep it locked it away, whatever you want.

And what if we do better than 6-10 and Jake does not have his worst year ever. Will you leave the Huddle in shame?

I'll even let you take LBF with you as a parting gift.

Enough of the display of total ignorance by squealing "What about the 5 year contract, what about the 5 year contract'!

Do any of you SERIOUSLY think there is ANY way he will be here in 3 years, let alone 5?! They could have made it a 25-year contract, and it wouldn't have made a difference!

Jake was smart enough to know that the only money he could ever count on was that $20 million he got up front as guaranteed!

If you paid attention to what his own agent said - "it was a complicated contract' you might understand a little better. Another thing guaranteed besides Jake's $20 mil is that this contract is loaded with clauses, 'gates', incentives, 'void options', etc that he will NEVER get the full $42+ Mil!

The San Diego Padres are currently paying a kid they got from Atlanta ALL of the bulk of something like $62 million even though they cut him - he gets to sit on his arse and collect that. NFL contracts DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!

THERE IS NO GUARANTEED 5 YEAR CONTRACT!

Wait, let me type it slower for those having a hard time following

T h e r e i s n o 5 y e a r C o n t r a c t... except on paper!

Everyone out there who believes Jake will be on the roster in 5 years, into his 40s, raise your hand. Come on - put 'em up.

Oh, I see 1....wait - you're wearing a Redskin Jersey. You don't count!

Ok, so stop with the 'Carlina was stupid because now we MUST keep Jake for 5 years and pay himthe total $42+ million dollars!'

This was a cap move and will never pay out much more than the #20 mil in bonus and PERHAPS the estimated $8 mil for this season (depending on what 'complicated contract' means)!

So he's still going to be here for about 3 seasons?

I don't think it too far a stretch to think we will go 7-9 next year.

Of course I could see us going 10-6 as well.

Going for the latter though.

Of course having one of the most merciless schedules (at least on paper) in the NFL won't have anything to do with it - it will be all because Jake BLEW and could not carry the team back to the playoffs, right?!

What a great fan you are. Hoping we have the worst season in years just so you can rub some comments in on an internet message board.

Hey I win either way. Either the Panthers do well and I'll look dumb, but I'll be happily not caring or the Panthers will flop and I'll look like the genius I am.

Of course............they could always go the dreaded 7-9 or 8-8 again.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I already detailed that earlier in the thread dear. I know it's a long thread, but I'm not reposting for your benefit.

I have never ever accused anyone here of not being a true fan of the team no matter how much I have EVER disagreed with them, no matter what names I have been called, etc. but if this isn't the very definition of someone who honestly takes more joy in being RIGHT than rooting for the team, I don't know what is.

It's sickening, to be honest. You're the only one who should be ashamed.

Vagrant:Jeff Garcia is NOT a fit for this offense. Have you seen how he plays when not in a WCO?

Why would I do that? I would much rather us do well and me look like a fool.

A hard schedule shouldn't stop a good team from doing anything, well find out what we are.

Yes, heaven forbid the Panthers miss the playoffs but aren't bad enough for you to gloat. What a shame that would be.

    • With a night to sleep on it I'm now firmly of the opinion that we keep letting Bryce improve the rest of the season and enter next years camp with 2 new additions to the QB room. One being a new veteran and the other being another rookie QB we can bring along slowly. If Bryce's ceiling is game manager so be it. In that instance it will be majorly beneficial to the team as a whole to have another QB waiting in the wings and use the other as trade bait. But we've got to be smart about this and think ahead. I cannot stress enough that we cannot again sit on our hands with the most important position. Meanwhile we've also been continuing to build up the rest of the roster in the meantime. Then maybe we will be ready to compete for the division and a playoff spot. That is the best path forward for this franchise given where we are and the mistakes we've made that should serve as a learning tool of what not to do.
