Delhomme has new deal

What dumb moves has Hurney made that has gotten us into this situation? Please enlighten me. Every off-season the Panthers have tried to get Peppers a new contract, he pretty much just gave us the finger.

He shouldn't have put all of the escalators into other players' contracts in a way that they could all kick in at the same time like they did this offseason. You put that together with the Gross monster deal and tagging Peppers and that equals not having any money left and being forced to give Jake this much guaranteed money just so you can sign your five picks.

I will not spend another dollar on this sorry team and I am taking as many with me as I can. Obviously, my little $500 a year I spend won't even touch the franchise, but it's a start. If the fans continue to support this team financially, they will continue to make crap decisions. Anyone who thinks this is a smart move is an idiot; PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Best of luck Panthers. I've supported you from day 1, but my days are over. I would say see you in the playoff's, but you won't be there.

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. :seeya:

I wouldn't have a problem with it if they weren't so obviously NOT cutting the fat by resigning the fat to a $40 million deal over 5 years with $20 million in guaranteed money.

Oh the Panthers should cater their team so YOU don't have a problem with them. You will be on the bandwagon by Sept so stop crying on here, that's what mommy is for.

I think it's pretty safe to say that the players fall under a little different category than receptionist or stat guy.

But hey, if you think the Concession manager has just as much to do with winning ballgames as our quarterback, than there's not much else to say is there?

Easy there.

The Panthers could have done a couple of different things. They could have signed him to 3 years instead of 5. Given less money guarenteed or just honored this contract and let Jake walk at the end of the year.

OK I said honor this contract at 11 mil, everyone knew it had to be restructured. HE IS A STARTING QB IN THE NFL, THEY MAKE THE MOST MONEY. That is a relatively cheap deal, anyone with minimal ignorance knows most of the salary is towards the end of the deal and will probably be cut after two more years.

What should the Panthers have done Mr Know it All? A: Keep the current contract at 11 mil this year, B: restructure or C: cut him for who? STFU!

or D: We should have moved him earlier in the offseason and resolved our QB dilemma in another way or E: Restructured his deal in a much less egregious manner, something like 3 years, under $10 mil guaranteed. This new contract is just obscene.

Panthers usually front load theirs. If you think Jake will be starting in 3 years then this club is in serious trouble.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
