Delhomme has new deal

Is the ultimate goal to win regular season games or to win playoff games and Super Bowl trophies?

I mean.....Kyle Orton had an incredible rookie season record wise and I seem to remember Trent Dilfer having a great record the year the Ravens won the Super Bowl.

What's relevant is that no one in their right mind can think that Jake Delhomme is a Super Bowl quarterback anymore.

A Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning isn't in the formula for winning in John Fox's system though. Jake was never a Super Bowl quarterback, so I don't know this "anymore" stuff. The team around him just made him look better, and he only had to make the big throws when the team needed it. The reason why everyone thinks Jake sucks is just because of the Arizona game, which was really a coaching failure more than anything.

Please Ryan has upside. Jake has nowhere to go but down. He sucks, he will never play like he did in 2003.

Dude didn't you see Ryan lose that playoff game? He sucks and Atlanta should probably cut him or trade him for a 6th rounder or whatever they can get.

lol at you calling people clueless.

There's a difference between cap hit and salary. He was a 12 million cap hit this year because of bonuses and everything else owed to him.

Offering him a 3/21 million dollar deal with 13 included in that # as a bonus makes much more sense.

For the Panthers sure but I don't see Jake signing off on that. I was talking just on the salary not cap hit.

I will not spend another dollar on this sorry team and I am taking as many with me as I can. Obviously, my little $500 a year I spend won't even touch the franchise, but it's a start. If the fans continue to support this team financially, they will continue to make crap decisions. Anyone who thinks this is a smart move is an idiot; PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Best of luck Panthers. I've supported you from day 1, but my days are over. I would say see you in the playoff's, but you won't be there.

Preach it. I agree. You could have plugged David Carr in and we would have finished 11-5 with the amount of MVP candidates, Pro Bowlers, and superstars we had on offense.

In all of my wasted years reading posts on sports message boards, this is actually the single largest turd I have ever encountered.

mmmm....quotes = gas

From general manager Marty Hurney: "We think very highly of Jake and the contributions he has made to the Carolina Panthers. He has been a leader on the field, is a talented quarterback, is a perfect fit for our team and was a big reason we were able to win the NFC South last year. He has also always represented the team in the highest manner and earned the respect of everyone throughout the organization."

From Delhomme: "One of the most important things in my football life was to finish my career as a Carolina Panther. Playing for Mr. Richardson, Marty Hurney, coach Fox, and my teammates has been a great experience and I am excited about the future."

From coach John Fox: "Jake is a most unselfish player. His first concern is about the team, which has earned him respect throughout the locker room."
