Hmmm, the pot is calming down a bit. Time to give it a stir...

Is the ultimate goal to win regular season games or to win playoff games and Super Bowl trophies?

I mean.....Kyle Orton had an incredible rookie season record wise and I seem to remember Trent Dilfer having a great record the year the Ravens won the Super Bowl.

What's relevant is that no one in their right mind can think that Jake Delhomme is a Super Bowl quarterback anymore.

I understand both sides and am in the middle of this arguement. I don't like the money he is getting but I don't want to judge until we know all the details about the contract. Very rarely is a contract even worth nearly the amount that is originally stated. For example everybody knows that Haynesworth will never make $100 million from the contract he just signed with the Redskins. Remember DeAngelo Hall last year, he signed a huge contract in the offseason and got cut half way through they year and will never see most of that money. Also while the $20 million is guaranteed, it doesn't mean that he is getting a check for that amount today. The money will probably be seperated equally throughout the length of the contract.

Sadly Jake Delhomme is our best option right now and we have to stick with what we have. I would love a better QB but there is no real upgrade available right now that is attainable for us. We never had a shot at Cutler because we don't have 2 first round picks. Nobody better than Delhomme is available for trade or is a free agent and there is no rookie that is going to be available at pick 59 that is better than Delhomme right now. As sad as it is Delhomme is our best option right now and we had to resign him to be able to improve our team with more quality Free Agents, even though the price might be too high.

He was due to make ~11 mill this year, why would he sign an extension to make 10-12 mill over 5 years instead? We added 9 mill and 4 years on top of what he was already due. That's 2.25 mill a year, which is backup QB money. How clueless are some of you people?

I love lamp!

lol at you calling people clueless.

There's a difference between cap hit and salary. He was a 12 million cap hit this year because of bonuses and everything else owed to him.

Offering him a 3/21 million dollar deal with 13 included in that # as a bonus makes much more sense.

Preach it. I agree. You could have plugged David Carr in and we would have finished 11-5 with the amount of MVP candidates, Pro Bowlers, and superstars we had on offense.

OMG... you're being serious, aren't you.
