I've never heard anybody saying Jake and our FO are horrible and I listen to ESPN radio all day driving to sales calls and watch several hours of it when I get home. I guess I need to listen closer...

Cowherd called John Fox an Elite Coach just a week ago.

$20 million guaranteed is a cap move. LOLOLOL

Okay, let me try and explain this to you....if 20 mil of the 42.5 is guaranteed, that means it is essentially a signing bonus and does not count towards the cap, so 42.5 - 20 = 22.5 over 5 years as far as the cap is concerned. 22.5/5 = 4.5 million a year vs. 11 million a year. That means we gave Jake a contract he would accept which allowed us to free up 6.5 mil in cap space.

So yes, 20 mil is a cap move.

Hmmm, the pot is calming down a bit. Time to give it a stir...

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcsouth/0-10-114/Some-significant-numbers-on-Delhomme.html

Carolina's record in Delhomme's 79 regular-season starts with the Panthers is 49-30. The Panthers also are 21-9 in NFC South games with Delhomme as their starter.

Now, consider this: In the 16 games Delhomme has missed since he's been with the Panthers, Carolina is 6-10.

Shows how stupid this board truly is. This frees up some much needed cap room, and Jake wants to retire here anyways, how is this a surprise?

A 5 year extension is not a cap saving move. We only saved 2 million dollars this year off of this deal.

Everyone knew they wanted to rework Jake's contract because of the cap, but $20 mil guaranteed, sounds like Jake and his agent took the Panthers to the "woodshed". I wouldn't have a problem with a 10-12 mil guaranty but 20 is way too much. Also the deal will only give the panthers a couple million in cap space not 6-8 like some were posting.

He was due to make ~11 mill this year, why would he sign an extension to make 10-12 mill over 5 years instead? We added 9 mill and 4 years on top of what he was already due. That's 2.25 mill a year, which is backup QB money. How clueless are some of you people?
