Having fun watching Skins fans (aka suckers) freak out over on extremeskins.com

Up to this point I have been hesitant to criticize Goodell, depsite EVERYONE around me joining the chorus.

That being said.

GO F*^% yourself Goodell. You are ruining our beloved game. So the NFL fails to keep its collective bargaining agreement in place, therebye creating an uncapped year and we are going to be penalized for it?

This is Socialism!!!! Stupid NFL protecting small market teams like the Jags and Cincy... Oh well, shouldn't be too bad, skins and Dallas bring in a lot of money to the NFL.

SMU Redskin

Not sure what everyone is complaining about. The NFL send out a memo telling us not to do exactly what we did. Now we're getting punished. Seems logical

IF this happens, it will seriously push me to the point of wondering why I care about the NFL anymore. I waited for how long to get a franchise QB? Now that we have one, we are going to rely on FA to help get him some help. Now they are screwing us over the only way that they can. I'm blown away that a franchise can possibly have so much bad luck. Sometimes I wonder if its even bad luck.

This article scared me a little, I was under the impression we dumped a lot of veteran salary that year as well......... Maybe I don't understand it fully. When you cut a veteran with years left on his contract, you pay the amount of gaurenteed money in that cap year. We cut a number of vets with years left and paid the cap amount that year.

I'm not complaining. Happy about the outcome.

We had the Cowboys at $12.667 million under the cap before they put an $8.8 million franchise tag on Anthony Spencer, so the full penalty would actually put them over the cap and even if they took $4 million of the hit this year they'd still have work to do to get under. We had the Redskins as $47.568 million under the cap before they put a $5.4 million franchise tag on Fred Davis, which means they could take their whole penalty this year and still be under.

What'd they do wrong? Well, they apparently violated no actual rule but rather a behind-the-scenes guideline designed to keep the uncapped year from truly being uncapped.

While the 2010 season was an uncapped year, the NFL told teams not to use that as a means of eating up portions of long-term contracts in order to reduce cap room in future years. The Redskins and Cowboys and, to a lesser extent, the Raiders and Saints, were found to have done just this. As a result, not only do they lose this money, but every NFL team other than Oakland and New Orleans gets an additional $1.6 million in cap room. (The Saints and Raiders aren't docked any cap room, they just don't get to share in what the Redskins and Cowboys have to give back.)

I think the difference is that the Skins and Cowboys were restructuring contracts to dump the majority of the $ owned on the contract into the uncapped year.

It's cute how the skins fans think they have a franchise qb now....when they haven't even drafted him yet.....it's actually been a while since a high profile qb pick flat out busted, so the league is past due. Not saying RG3 will bust, but damn.....glad the Panthers finally have that squared away.

I think the only thing we did was get rid of a bunch of contracts and deal with the dead money then. The boys and skins specifically planned for huge portions of contracts to be paid out then. I'm not even sure if the amount of dead money we had that season was much more significant than other seasons.
