Damn. He my personal favorite underrated TE. I get a lot of redskins games broadcasted in my area and hes beasted out against some good teams.

Wouldn't hate it. I'd prefer Shockey because I feel like he has a positive impact on the attitude of the team, but if he isn't back we do need to find a replacement and Davis is definitely a good #2 guy.

eh, i dont know if i would want Davis over other guys, i personally would love to see Carolina chasing defense more in free agency, look to the Giants for a cornerback, look for any DT and of course Landry (though i would have worries about him and make sure to see that he's healthy).

trust me, he would be HUGE (if he lays off the pot), but he's franchised by Washington for a reason, they love Fred Davis, Carolina will likely sign Shockey to another short term deal and if they dont, then maybe they get a decent backup TE. i am not worried about TE as much as i am about cornerback and DT.

I don't think Davis is that good. I know the Bears don't use Tight ends a lot but he could of had a lot more than 200 yards in 16 games if he was that good considering the stats Olsen had in the same system. Davis is nothing more than a big end zone target who only has a job because of his size.

There are a lot more nuances to it than that, really. Mike Martz has no use for TE's other than for blocking. He was kinda forced into making Olsen part of the scheme. In 2010, in Olsen's only season with Martz as OC, he had his statistically worst season of his career as a starter. He was subsequently traded. Davis was used how Martz prefers to use TEs- primarily as a blocker. Like I said on Facebook the day that Olsen was traded- "How much are we going to regret trading Olsen after this season when Martz gets fired?" My words unfortunately came true.

With Tice running the offense, I do expect Davis to have a very good year this coming season.
