Lombardi says Claiborne will be a Panther

Not likely. They are still one of the worst drafting teams in the NFL. They screwed up most of their first round picks, and even Bradford isn't the gem a #1 overall pick should be.

There's a new staff there now, you can't count on that.

Jeff Fisher is a good coach. I bet that they will be a good team next year, and quite possibly could even win their division.

I definitely think they will be much improved, but I highly doubt they will end up flipping those picks into dominant players like the Cowboys did after the Walker trade, just because the Rams institutionally seem incapable of drafting intelligently. Maybe the new regime will change things, but that tendency often overlaps GMs.

I think there's very little chance Claiborne will be there when we pick and though I think he'd be a great pick it might actually be for the best. This draft is ridiculously deep with cornerbacks and we only need a #2 guy as Gamble has proven himself to be a top end #1.

We could probably wait till the 4th round and still get a guy that can start and be a solid #2. I wouldn't mind doing that and going Dline with the first two picks, say Cox or Brockers in the 1st, Curry or Branch in the 2nd. Or maybe DT in the 1st and OLB in the 2nd.

Godfrey and Martin we still both of the worst tackling safeties in the league...can't pin all that on the CBs.

Prob cause the Oline was at the Safety level. Really though Godfreys numbers were respectable at .08 percent for the year. Also Martin was not too far behind with .06 percent. The tops in the league were avg about .09 percent.

I think that the Rams will draft OLine. Last season, Sam Bradford got the crap beat out of him all season, and now they know they need to protect their franchise QB, or else it'll all fall to pieces. So, I'd expect Riley Reiff to go to St. Louis.
seriously doubt reiff goes in top 10. he's the 2nd best OG in the draft...or at least that's the way he's being viewed by teams now. they aren't listing him as an OT.

in fact teams have been talking about moving decastro to RT so i'm thinking that if the rams are going to take any OL in the draft not named kalil, it will probably be decastro. even at that, though, i don't see him going that early.

they'll probably wait until 2nd or 3rd rounds to address the OL and they'll be fine doing it.

I'm seeing different things you are, then. Not to say you are wrong, I'm just wondering where you're getting your information regarding Reiff.

From CBSSports:

Looks like an athletic NFL left tackle. Most college defenders cannot get the edge against him due to his lateral agility and length. Locks up most ends if they try to bull rush. Has natural knee bend and reach to send shorter edge rushers around the pocket, or to the ground.

From NFL.com/Mike Mayock Post-Combine:

Offensive Tackle

1. Matt Kalil, USC

2. Riley Reiff, Iowa

3. Jonathan Martin, Stanford

4. Mike Adams, Ohio State

5. Cordy Glenn, Georgia

From NFL.com Overview:

Reiff is an impressive tackle prospect who declared for the draft after three years of starting every game for Iowa following a redshirt year where he was actually on the defensive side of the ball. He started every game in his career and was very durable considering how heavily Iowa relied on its run game. He is a smart football player who should be able to adapt to the NFL speed and playbooks with ease. Given that he plays at a position with such value, it's unlikely that Reiff will last past the first round of the draft.
