Mark Sanchez gets a Huge contract extension

yeah, just saw the contract breakdown for this and it's not so bad. the last three years are all optional, no guaranteed money

the 20 million over the first two is much more than he's worth but they we already stuck paying him 17.5 no matter what and the way it's structured gives them a sizable amount of cap space for 2012, which they needed.

the extra 2.5 isn't that much for cap relief + 3 fully optional years added on. so you're off the hook jets fans, now back to trolling the redskins and saints

sanchez is no elite qb. With that being said, barely over $10 mil a year....that isn't even top 5 money. Whats so insane about this contract?

And what constitutes an Elite QB these days? So called sports experts saying so.

I'm so sick of the mindset that if a QB isn't painted into an image of an elite QB, they are not. And sadly, it seem as if it's the same type of QB who are being pushed as elite QBs before they've even proven themselves.

Do anyone seriously see Matt Stafford as an "elite QB." How about Sam Brafford. Why is it okay to pay someone like Matt Stafford or Sam Bradford so much for mediocre to decent seasons but we pull our hair out or sit and disect the mindset being QBs like Sanchez making his money?

Some pretty mediocre QB's have one the Super Bowl while other Elite QB's haven't.

Mediocre: Bradshaw, Dilfer, Plunkett, Williams come to mind.

Elite: Tarketon, Marino, Kelly

Since the QB touches the ball on every Offensive play, I would say that Stafford and Bradford are better than average. They need a team around them.

IMO

wut.

stafford and bradford both have huge contracts because they were drafted so high (prior to the new CBA, this means you get diqloads of money).

not sure why you're so upset over someone saying sanchez isn't elite... he isnt... and he's not even close

Sanchez best year- 57 comp percent, 3500 yards, 6.4 avg 26 TDs, 18 INTs

Stafford best year- 63.5 comp percent, 5000 yards, 7.6 avg 41 TDs, 16 INTs

Stop acting like Sanchez is as good as Stafford, he isn't even close. And who the hell says Bradford is elite?
