Thomas Davis lobbying for Poe

I am sure if you polled the players they would give you all kinds of positions....never naming there own spot and probably selective positions that friends play in which they have faith there boys can step up.

DT also is a cast of guys are either just drafted or have no history here. Easiest spot for a player to name.

We also had the worst S play in the NFL last year...but our Safties have some years put in and so they aren't likely to be called out for a later pick or FA to be brought in.

You can only put so much into what these guys say....

LOL, it is NOT a reach that player don't want there position drafted form a job security standpoint. Listen to former players talk....they want anyone that can help brought in that doesn't play there spot.

That is fandom talking when you start the he will be a Panther bc of who he is and all that.....no player in NFL history has successfully done what Davis is attempting. He easily could not be a Panther next year. They will let him attempt it but that doesn't make his odds good.

Carolina will give Davis a shot....they can't count on him at this point. If he worked out that would be a huge bonus. Finding a OLB is now a clear need. Davis isn't going to want that need be addressed until he blows his knee again....pointing that out isn't reaching at all

Rookie LBs would prefer a vet in front of them. Rookie Poe isn't going to aid rookie LBs much.

i agree with one thing ya said. OLB is a need. Not in the first through.

The rest ya said, your talking out of your ass.

Your lying to yourself! Any linebacker, rookie or otherwise, want a big defensive tackle in front of them, to keep the line off them.

Find any linebacker to say otherwise. Go ahead. Take as mmuch time as ya want. I'll give you eternity.

As far as the fandom, i was quoting mr richardson. So sorry to burst ya soap box. Players like davis and beason are highly competitive. Competition isn't going to phase them.

I know ya don't like reality, as it doesn't fit into your opinion very well. I advise ya to get over it.

There will be a comparable DT available in the 2nd....reaching for one doesn't make it a better move than grabbing a comparable guy in the 2nd. Deep draft at DT...really it is splitting hairs how to rank them.

Poe was considered by most experts to be the 4th 5th or 6th best before the combine. That was based on his tape and the fact he was a big freak. Him moving up in certain ranking isn't bc he is clearly better....it is bc there isn't much of a difference in them....you can rank them anyway you want.

do you ever stop lying?

Anybody that's paying attention since before the draft, know Poe was already considered a top 5 defensive tackle, predicted an early 2nd to late first. (we all know about predictions. Right? Or do i have to school you there also?).

Saying dt is a reach, while banging the drum for the weak defensive end and linebacker class, just proves ya continue to talk out of your ass.

If you think a tackle of poe's size, strength, and agility (which is rare) isn't worth the 9th pick, then just say ya don't like poe. Don't make poo up dude. That's pathetic.

It sucks for TD. His body keeps rejecting the donor tissue. That's why the knee keeps failing. His body rejects the tissue and his immune system literally attacks the tissue and starts breaking it down. Maybe this time he will be lucky and his body won't reject it. My father had the same surgery, but he was lucky enough that his body didn't reject the tissue.

source?

Mayock had him tied for 5th. That means he had 2 at 5....that equals 6 DTs. If you are going to accuse me of lying you need to at least make sure what I posted was incorrect. So please, "school" me some more.

Only drum I am banging is BPA on D at 9.....and no expert has a DT as BPA where our pick falls. They are bumping a DT to us on need.

If we were having strong man competitions than Poe is my guy....but this is football. He hasn't showed enough on the field against weak opponents. That is why before the combine guys like MAYOCK had him TIED as the 5th best DT in the draft.

If you don't realize Poe isn't as good of a football player as Luke right now...and there is a good gap then you haven't watched enough of them actually playing football. Luke has potential to step up now...Poe is likely looking at a couple years before he is ready to step into a role.

I like Poe's potential...I don't want a decent DT out of CUSA at #9 with TRex arms. Draft is a big enough gamble as it is...too many safer picks on D at #9

Do you not like Hardy or somthing?

I like him. Think he is more of a situational guy right now. I think we need to be at least 3 strong at DE in today's NFL. DEs normally develop quicker and our DTs could take awhile....being stronger at DE could help as the DTs grow

You are obviously confusing an ACL done with donor cadaver tissue with the procedures that Davis had which was receiving donations from his own hamstring muscles and now a piece of the patellar tendon from his other knee. Your body doesn't reject your own body parts just those of others sometimes.

Here is an article indicating the causes of ACL failure.

You know I am an advocate of Poe and agree he was always a first rounder. So DT isn't a reach but I also think that the DT class is pretty deep this year. I do think that you could find a very good DT in the second round if you went elsewhere in the first. I personally think that Kuechly is a special talent and while there are good players available later in the draft, none are as verasatile as he is at this point.

I would be fine with Poe though as long as his awesome athleticism can be harnessed into actual production in the NFL. If he becomes the next Kris Jenkins for us it is hard to be unhappy with that.

Yep. DT class is deep with little separation. A top 6 DT should be there in the 2nd. Poe would be fine if we traded down in the first. Too many guys that are less of a gamble there at 9 and that can have a quicker impact.

If you go Luke and then DT > DT then BPA on D.

Ideally, Claiborne would fall though in a dream scenario

If you go with Brockers or Poe you are opting for a future stud with great potential. But you will have to be patient and be happy with a down the road reward instead of instant impact.

With all of our potential needs I just think we could use someone on the field. Sign a vet DT and see what we have in our young guys first IMO....it isn't like Poe has shown anything where he wouldn't have Fua/McClain type growing pains.

I agree those 2 have the higher ceiling....Cox, Still, or even a Thompson might be ready for real playing time sooner though.

You know......that sounds like what we INITIALLY thought of Cam and we still drafted him. But im sure somebody will tell me it wasnt.....

Don't we already have a bunch of those kind of guys? Why not add another one to the mix. We will be set eventually.

I absolutely hate having to reach at 9. But a stud DT is a huge need. However, I am like most, I will probably be happy with whomever we get. As long as he is productive.

We must hit both our first two picks. And it would help if a couple of later picks improve the STs.

I hate not having a better idea who we will take at 9. Could be any number of players. Best case. Someone helps us trade down.

    • I mean that’s not an argument I go with… But in ACC play, both Clemson and SMU covered the spread more than Miami.  Miami didn’t cover in 3 games.
