Lack of third round pick is going to hurt in this draft

you're also not going to be giving a 3rd round pick a $25 million contract. you really can't directly compare the two

It's different, but you can compare the two. It's the question of would you prefer to get a near probowler and use up some salary cap or do you hope a great player gets passed on 70-something times.

i wouldn't mind trading back to pick up another 2nd or a 3rd.

i'm not bothered by missing out on a 3rd, though, because that was the pick we used to get olsen who is a lot better than any TE in this weak class. he filled a huge need and he's reliable.

sorry...if we don't get another 3rd rounder i'm not going to be upset. we're better off with olsen than any player we would have picked up and it's not even close.

LOL, what?! Chances are that the bears will draft a bust and we still have a top tier Tight End in Greg Olsen.. Why do people see it differently? We traded a sure thing for a not so sure thing.

Greg Olsen a FIRST ROUND TE for our third. If it makes you feel better have the draft look like this.

1st:Whoever you want

2nd: See above

3rd: Greg Olsen

4th: BPA

5th: "

6th: Ditto

7th: Yup, you guessed it.

Yeah. Good draft.

I don't think the original poster was making a comment on Olsen as much as commenting that it would be nice to have a 3rd round pick to capitalize on a deep draft. Whether or not it's considered deep or not is another thing.

Call me crazy but i wouldnt be surprised if we are trying to trade up to get a guaranteed all pro player. There is no sure fire player around our spot in the first and we have already committed a lot of money to keeping our veteran players, we could use more veteran leadership rather than inexperienced players to win but its just a thought.
