I don't remember ever hearing that we paid him $20 more than the next offer. Source? And even if it were true, he's worth it. He could have taken our offer back to the open market and maybe the other team would have increased their offer. The way I remember it, he signed the contract quickly because he was impressed with the offer, in effect not giving other teams much of a chance to match or exceed it.

I bet Atlanta is wishing they had been able to give CJ what we gave him instead of giving Ray Edwards a lesser (but still substantial) contract for next to no performance.
