That's how you know high gas prices are here to stay

If by energy efficient you mean take control of our country back from Big Oil, then yes...but that whole going green garbage is just that...garbage. In many ways it is more expensive to 'go green'.

Just like with food, it pretty much costs more to go on a diet than eat normally.

I don't necessarily agree with green, but I also don't necessarily hate big oil either. Hating big oil is akin to hating the drug seller more than the user. Can't have one without the other.

I just mean we could use and produce energy more efficiently than we do.

Also, it can be cheap to go on a diet if you don't get into one of those fancy diets, and instead just eat less, and eat cheap. :)

Year 1996 you could buy a Civic HX that got 41 MPG.

Now to beat that you have to pay over 24k for a Civic Hybrid.

Year 1989 you could buy a 49 MPG CRX HF.

Now you have to pay 20k for a 39MPG CRZ Hybrid.

Teh Kurb is wise.

Those old cars also have no options and few safety components compared to today. Civics from the 80's and 90's weigh less than 2000 pounds and had manual door locks, windows, etc. The HX is the version of the Civic with the least number of options. I used to have one, I felt like I was seconds away from death at all times.

Civic Hybrids today weight damn near 3000 pounds because they have more options that people now demand.
