Minter says Players were rewarded for Game changing plays..

I did not know about the black glove. Even then, a big hit is not a bounty, just a slam dunk for defensive players. This should be sent to the Saints as an example of how and why they were idiots, even if this is much milder than posting "Wanted: Dead or Alive" posters as they did.
yeah, i think they were afraid it could be viewed in that way.

there was a good long discussion or two i remember on the old board about it.

Minter says and I quote "Panthers players would reward teammates for big plays."

First of "big plays" like others have noted can include tackles, interceptions, sacks, fumbles etc... so those trying to make into something it's not (like a bounty program) can forget it because there is absolutely nothing wrong with what they are doing.

ALSO, IT IS NOT ILLEGAL. From the way Minter is describing it, it is a player to player program not a coach to player program and the money is coming from the players pockets; not the teams or the coaches.

If you guys remember awhile back, the Colts offensive line had a player to player program where a player was rewarded money for his performance in each game and if he had a poor game he would put money into the pot.

There is nothing wrong here, move along.

This is posted in the Panthers locker room. It is against the NFL rules.

Big difference in paying someone for interceptions, fumbles, sacks and tackles and rewarding someone for intentionally injuring someone. If I can put it in a non-football scenario, it's like comparing a guy getting a bonus for a great presentation and selling the product to a client, the other is like shooting someone in the knee and taking their money.

They are very different and both are against NFL rules.

Look at the top and you will see it says "Non-Contractual Bonuses"

Players can have clauses put in there contracts to make it permisable. Obviously if they don't it is frowned upon but the NFL is not going to bring the hammer down for breaking a small rule like this.

Contractual Bonuses would be incentives in the contract.

A payout between players is still against the rules.

In what way are bonuses for interceptions, tackles, and sacks against NFL rules? Many players have these as part of contract incentives. Now it's a completely different story if the Panthers had a convicted felon paying into a slush fund for this similar to the Saints.

The big difference that Tainted Aints* fans don't want to admit is while it looks like every team has a PLAYER run pay for performance system for big plays, no one else so far outside of Williams coached teams had coaches contributing to the pot, bounties for injuring players, and didn't blow the NFL off when told to stop the program.

Contract incentives are for performance is not against the rules. COACHES OR PLAYER PAID pay for performance is.
