The Braves

The Upton trade makes the team worse this year but helps in rebuilding the Braves farm system. I don't think there is any way the Braves compete for the division this year and are more concerned about 2017. Hart looks the rebuilding the team around contact and pitching, much like the old Braves and what the Giants and Royals have done recently.

They'll be rebuilding the team next year too, around the new park, and will spend some money when the contracts of guys like Uggla, Upton and Johnson are off the books.

I feel like we traded J-up for a pack of gum.

Max Fried was the Padres #3 prospect. So it wasn't a bad trade at all for what Atlanta was looking at getting back. They didn't want salary coming back if at all possible and it improves the farm system greatly. He was considered one of the top lhp prospects in baseball before he blew his elbow out in August, he'll sit for a year and hopefully he comes back as himself.

Dustin Peterson was selected in the 2nd round back in 2013 and is a decent-good 3rd base prospect, both of the two major prospects in the trade are 20.

From what I've read he looks to be on track to contribute in the majors as early as 2016, if not later this year. Could develop into an everyday starter, at worst, probably a good utility player.

Stat wise it's pretty solid, probably would like to see a little more power. Very strong arm.

Yep that's basically what I've been seeing too, thanks!

The Sanchez kid we gave you guys for Kubitza has a high ceiling anywhere from 1-3 starter but is only 17. A lot can change between now and in a few years when he's ready.

We've needed a 3B since Glaus left years ago, hopefully Kubitza can be the one! I hate David Freese

That's actually a heavy prospect haul for a DH. It's clear the Braves aren't really interested in competing in 2015 and possibly 2016.

The farm system will however be really interesting to watch. A lot of talent there now with more international options to come.

Keep in mind we are blowing up the 29th ranked offense of last year.
