Gonzalez sacrificed defense to avoid putting the disappointment that is BJ Upton on the field. Noboby in the OF was at their natural position and Gattis is a C/1B playing Left. He'll need to put Schafer in there if he does to want the same mistakes.

Gattis looked like a rookie last night.

One of the biggest injuries no one talked about was when the Braves lost Pena for the year and never got a guy to replace him. So 2B will continue to be a whole for the Braves until they can move Uggla. The loss of Hudson looms large too, leaving a very good staff but no big game experience.

The good thing for the Braves is that, unlike last year, they will have another game to show they want it.

Get your Freeman jersey, he's about to named the official face of the franchise, reported 8 year, $125 million. It'll be nice to have him locked up.

Heyward also avoids the next 2 years of arbitration.

Bad start even before the actual start of the season.

 

Medlen leaves with a strained forearm, heard that before. Not good for a guy already having TJS. Braves might lose their #1 for the year...or worse,

 

Beachy left  with numbness in his arm, still recovering from TJS.

 

Minor already injured, won't start the year.

 

Braves might have to give up a pick and enter the Santana bidding. I hate to lose a first rounder even knowing we get one from McCann. Also the option to mortgage the fiture to acquire Price.

 

Teheren, Wood, Hale, Garcia and Floyd look to start the year. Doesn't look as good as Medlen, Minor, Beachy, Teheren and Wood.

Hopefully we will give Ervin Santana a look, I hope all Meds need is rest but at this point is hard to do anything other than expect the worst.

Ervin Santana is a officially a Brave. 14 million for the one year rental. KC gets ATL's 1st round pick.

Really doesn't look good for Medlen.

A shame for Medlen but this was a necessary move. Don't think we can count on Beachy to hold up all year. Teheran and Wood have to take a big step in order to get back into the playoffs again.

Both Uptons are awful right now. At least we know Justin is streaky and will get his hits eventually. BJ makes Uggla look like a batting title contender.

At least we are still winning thanks to the pitching. Simmons or Johnson need to be higher in the order to help get the offense going. Give Jordan some lead off bats as well, he can hit better than BJ with his eyes shut.
