The odds of Beason coming back like he was, are not that good

Again do some homework and get back to me. Did the other linebackers see a reduction of production of 50% as a result of making the transition? Yes or no?? It is a simple question..................

Your opinion is ultimately irrelevant and obviously biased, your shining example is a LB coming off injury and changing schemes.

I have a wait and see approach I don't believe he will be 100% but i also seriously doubt he will see a drop in production that drastic, you think by posting a LBs stats in a different scheme is accurate? Just look at Jonathan Vilma when he was a 4-3 backer with the Jets and they moved to a 3-4 major drop in production, back to 4-3 he moved back to the 4-3 and was a pro-bowler.

not sure why the OP is taking so much flak for posting a well-thought-out post based on medical research. all i see are a bunch of crazed baboons and neurotic children lacking in the life experience to separate hopeful sentiment from thoughtful analysis.

not to say the OP is right (nobody will know for sure either way until beason gets out on the field himself) but for the love of god appreciate the merit of a rational post in a deep sea of baseless tripe.

I'll only believe it when I see it.

Agree that he could still be a good player. Just doubt he will ever be the beast that he once was. It just does not typically work that way.

And to all of the homers out there.....saying that Beason is all heart will NOT change the fact of how players recover from this injury.

It is unlikely that he will EVER be at the same level.

Obviously none of this will be decided until we actually see how Beason does and how much he recovers But lets say he does come back and is 75% of his former self then what?? Yeah I know I am the ringleader of the Kuechly bandwagon but given that he played middle linebacker and won the butkus award, it is likely that at 100% he is better than Beason at 75%. So the original question was who do we play at middle linebacker? And what would be the easiest position for Beason to play given the Mike has to have great lateral ability and move from side to side whereas the Sam for example has much less ground to cover.

I appreciate the support. As a parent several times over it reminds of talking to the kids and warning them about something that might happen of which you want them to be aware. No matter whether your point has merit or not, no one wants to hear that things might not work out. Like telling someone their spouse is cheating on them. No matter how good the intentions, the messenger always get the brunt of the negativity.

It shows how much Beason is cared for and how important he is to the team that the mere mention that he might not come back to 100% sends many folks into a frenzied panic. I admit I have not exactly been crazy about the idea myself but understand the realities of injury in sports. I hoep he comes back 100% for sure but if I had to lay a bet, I am afraid it would be that he struggles at least for the next year or two. In the meantime I worry we will not be prepared at linebacker putting all our eggs in the Davis/Beason basket.

Hence the reason I have been on the Kuechly bandwagon.

Don't make the mistake of thinking I am not a huge Beason fan. I have his jersey and wear it proudly to games during the year. But that doesn't preclude me from facing the reality that his climb back will be difficult and the odds are that if he returns to 100%, it will likely take years for that to happen. In the meantime I am a Panthers fan regardless of individual players. I want what is best for the team and if he struggles, it might be best to replace him in the middle or move him while he rehabs.

As for your argument you can make it out to be anything you want but down deep I doubt even you believe that his drop off was due to the scheme and not the injury.

They are saying he is a one down player and want him to take a pay cut or they are going to release him. Because of scheme or he isn't the player he used to be?? Lets get real here. Notice the part about halfway down where is teaching the players Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme during the lockout. Seems the scheme is no problem mentally. Physically?? Yeah that would be the achillles talking.

Mentioning all these injuries, reminds me of 2008 when I tore my patellar tendon. Boy was that rough. It makes me wonder how all these players can bounce back from injuries like that. I haven't been the seen since (probably mentally) I guess that is why they are called athletes and I am not lol. They have God given gifts. Anywho, back on subject, I'm rooting on Beason as well as Davis. Hoping they can come back to a career year like Smith in 2005. Hey it can happen :)
