Mario Williams or Vincent Jackson

Both guys could help us obviously. If it was anyone other than them, I don't think we consider it because both aren't positions of need as our team is currently constructed... But, both are extremely talented and game changers at their position (when on the field).

I know we are really close to the cap and I'm sure some restructures and/or releases are coming, but is there anyway realistically we could structure a deal for either of these guys to get them to come here?

Also, this is assuming that Williams or Jackson give us a slight discount - Jackson for his connection with Rivera and Williams being an NC guy.

I bring this up because Schefter says apparently the Texans can't afford to keep Williams after the deal they gave Arian Foster because the tag would be worth 23 mil. And it's long been anticipated that the Chargers would let Jackson go after this most recent season.

you can always restructure contracts to change when money hits the cap, it's just a matter of how badly you want to screw yourself over in future years.

as far as jackson vs williams, i'd rather get 3-4 quality mid tier FAs than one big name guy but that's just me

@Panthro, those are no doubt the type of signings I expect from us. Bargain bin signings with potential high-reward and low-risk on the investment. I would love us to sign Reggie Smith.

What I think our team needs more than anything else, especially on defense, is competition.

@Kurb, agreed. I'm confident going forward with WR and we've got two guys in LaFell and Gettis with great size/speed, which is similar VJax. But, I thought it was worth bringing up because I know he's been a popular topic of discussion in the past.

No doubt, the reasons I say no is it would fug us so badly down the road.

Anything is possible, dealing with it later is the issue.

Agreed. Lotta good talent this year. Give me some of those.

Well, that's what I was thinking... If we could get Williams on a deal that is backloaded but light on the cap number the first and second years, possibly incentive laden.

Then again, unless he really just wanted to come home, I'm sure some team out there is ready to give him Peppers money despite his injury history.
