If we take Luke Kuechly who plays MLB?

that is why losing the coin flip hurts. hurt odds of trading back.

Yeah that sucks...but fortunately for the Panthers, the Dolphins are after a QB and might trade up themselves. The Panthers can only hope that the team that trades down targets someone at #8.

Beginning to think the Panthers will be able to trade back easily if a team wants to trade up and get a QB like Tannehill in the 1st. I'm assuming the 1st round will have an early run on QB's, a lot like last year. Panthers could reap the rewards and grab an extra 2nd rounder.
On many boards depending on what happens to Manning and Flynn, Tannehill is gone before 9.

This is true. It also means that some of the top prospects will be available because teams traded up to grab QB's early. Claiborne might fall to #9...in perfect Panther world...

I have been pounding the DLine wagon all offseason.

Having great LB'ers is wonderful, until a 300lb Olineman faceplants them.

Disruptive D-Line play leads to exceptional LB'er play.

Most times I would agree with you and I was on the DT/DE train early on. Problem is that no one stands out as wonderful this year. Guys like Poe and Coples have great measuraables but suspect play. There really iisn'tt a talent at number 9 that we can't closely approximate in the second round or even the third if we trade up from the fourth. If claiborne falls to 9 I take him, otherwise Kuechly is the most productive linebacker to come out of college for only playing three years, ever. He won't go first or second because he plays linebacker instead of quarterback, but he may be the best defensive player in the draft bar none. Having a versatile terrific linebacker when your starting Sam backer is likely done, your Mike is coming off very serious surgery, and your Will backer can't play Mike is more important that another DT or DE when the starters are signed and you have plenty of depth. Getting great pass rush is useless when an opposing QB can take a three step drop and kill you all day throwing to a TE or back out of the backfield.

Exactly.

We have 2-3 promising young DT's that need a little time. Adding one more rookie to the mix will NOT provide upgrade this year...not to mention that neither of the DT's are game changers. There is a lot of depth at DT in this draft, but none of them are studs.

Sign another vet and get the young guys rotating in.

What 2-3 promising DT are you talking about.

Beason has stated that he would be ready and could have played if the panthers had made the superbowl. So I'm not worried about him. TD is a problem but I think their are some Good Sam and Will LB's in this draft that you can get in the 3rd and 4th round.

DT was a major issues last year and either Draft or FA we have to get a player.

Players always say they can play so their opinion is not as important as the medical ones. Tell me if Davis said he couldn't play either time before he tore his ACL again.

And the point is that there are some linebackers who can play Sam or Will

in the draft. Name me one linebacker who can play Sam, Will or Mike and be an athletic upgrade to whoever we have on the team presently. Yeah that would be Kuechly. The only advantage Beason has on him is experience. But coming out of college Kuechly is head and shoulders above where Beason was and he was a senior while Kuechly was a junior. Beason showed he struggled at Will. Sure it was college but Kuechly played it as a freshman and was 2nd in the country in tackles.

DT was a major issue bcause edwards was on IR and the other two were rookies. This year Edwards is healthy and the other two have expereince under their belt. So the issues of last year won't be a repeat this year.
