If we take Luke Kuechly who plays MLB?

Lol CRA just openly admitted that round has no bearing on a players ability.

Why do we even let people like you post here? Hold on gimme a minute CRA, I'm taking a page out of Fiz's playbook and deciding if should even bother entering this little fantasy land you've concocted.

No I didn't. I said a raw player like Poe who didn't do much in CUSA is unlikely to step in and be better than our existing DTs. We have young bodies already at DT that are developing. You just can't read.

It isn't a fantasy the Giants believe in going BPA. It isn't a fantasy Poe is unlikely to do anything in 2012 and it isn't a fantasy LBs transition to the NFL faster than DTs.

The flawed part about all the idea of drafting Kuechly is we have spent big part of our Cap on the LB position. After all the money they spent on Anderson, Beason, and what ever they do with TD. I doubt they also put 1st round money into another LB. They may have spent their cap at that position and now look to restrut TD and get a cheaper option from the mid round of the draft or a mid level FA. They will have to put some money and talent up front. Only 1 player on the Dline is making star money. The rest are making the min or less. The secondary also needs a boost in talent. Only 2 guys are making good money. They Might see that they have alot of money at the LB position and it's time to put some money on getting a better Dline and Secondary.

I guess what I'm saying is I've never heard of a team signing vet 3 Lb 1 year then drafting LB 1st the next year.

Have any of you?

Im kinda split on this one. We reall need to upgrade our D-line. But I have seen Luke play3-4 times this past year and he is just a beast. It seems like there are 4 of him running around on the field. he is a perfectionist and all of his coaches praise his work ethic. I would spend money in the FA on d-line.

There's a reason the team payed all three LB's big money when there was serious questions with TD's knee and Anderson while a good LB isn't an amazing or all pro LB. The team is going to cut TD, so if they drafted Kuechly the team would be back to having three high paid LB's, the key core of this defense.

They have all been studs at least. Davis would have been a stud if Fox hadn't wasted years moving him to S

Davis only played like three games max at safety. Not sure how that constitutes 'years'.

I am pleased to see someone so adamantly trying to convince themselves we will take a look at linebacker with the #9 pick, but it's just not going to happen, but by some whacked out chance the Panthers get a LB in the first round, it will be someone with better covering abilities to play running backs into the flat.

DT/CB/OT

Our first pick will come out of those three groups.

My bad, I was thinking they moved him in year two. Not sure why that matters in terms of the point....all drafted LBs have been solid. Injury has been the only issue.

I think we should take BPA at 9...that could be a CB, LB or whatever.

And again, claiming they need to find someone better in coverage....be it the flats or whatever shows you need to watch more of the BC kid. He is a machine. he can cover and has the speed.

Do you think one of the top 5-6 DTs will be there at our 2nd pick?

Very slight chance...but there could be one or two of the DEs, and maybe even a Top 3 linebacker there.

As for BPA, Kuechly won't be the BPA until about 12 or 13.

Not to mention the fact that with the kind of money we sunk into Beason and Anderson they gotta play all three downs. When we go into our dime and nickel packages one of those guys has to come off the field. You dont pay High salary and take high draft pick LBs to only play two downs. With the game the way it is today, we will be in nickel and dime a lot more which the focus switches to pass rusing and cbs that can cover. You dont need to sink that much resource into LBs anymore to win unless they can rush the passer.

The problem is no team puts that much money in 1 position without it hurting them. If we paid 2 LB we will get a lesser paid 3rd 1.

The team will take a bigger hit cutting TD then resturt him so cutting really isn't a option right now.
