If we take Luke Kuechly who plays MLB?

His 2.5 career sacks bodes well for a position that blitzes 65% of the time

Lol stats

Question, how often was he sent?

Because without that knowledge, his sack numbers are meaningless as any kind of indicator of pro potential as a blitzer.

What was Chuck smith doing before he became a panther. What was Sean Gilbert doing before he was a panther. Doug Evans, Kevin Dyson, Dj Hackett, Landon johnson And Darwin Walker all did somthing with another team but didn't do it here. But you're right we should not even think about that in Ron's case.

You are all over the place on this one trying everything to save a little bit of credibility. How many of these guys are nose tackles and how many are coming back from a pectoral muscle tear. Well only Gilbert and Walker were DTs. GIlbert did return and played fairly well. The issue was not his play but what we had to give up to get him. He wasn't worth 2 1st rounders and a boatload of cash. And Walker had chronic back problems from an automobile crash. The rest aren't even germaine to the discussion.

So no we shouldn't worry about it.

Yes they are. They were all disapointing FA for us. I know you already have Edwards getting a statue outside of the stadium. BUt I would like to have more Option at Dt this year and not just depend on a mid level FA coming off a season ending injury.

Which Ron edwards is right now until proven on the field. So it is Germaine to the discussion.

By the way Gilbert wasn't near the player he was in Washington for us. So while what we gave up was a problem his avg. play didn't help also.

And don't act like people weren't talking the same big hopes on Darwin like some people are about edwards now.

In a JJ 4-3 he isn't a fit in the middle.

it doesn't automatically not make him a leader to play the weakside, and it doesn't make anybody that plays the middle a leader

Derrick Brooks played WLB...it didn't mean anything other than the fact in that scheme the beast played weakside.

Forgot were I seen it,being that I have looked at so much predraft sites and writings.but 4.4 forty, 39 inch vertical 5`11 239 frame so I think it was more so because of his size. But he is the Pac-12 defensive player of the year and has played OLB and ILB in a 3-4.so like I said he fits the scheme more since he has proved he can get after the QB.

Not really. He has played ILB in a 3-4 his whole college career. He is a little short at 5'11" has trouble shedding blocks. He could only play Will in a 4-3 where he is shielded somewhat from linemen blocking him. He is fast and athletic though.

Quit with the hyperbole, Edwards is a big fat guy who can stand there and take on 2 blockers. Who said he was great? But honestly that is all 90% of nose tackles are. And again I said Glbert would have been productive and fine if he hadn't cost us an arm and leg. While you are at it why not mention Eric Swann, Reggie White and a bunch of other guys who struggled for us. It stll has no bearing on this discussion.

Why not stick to the topic instead of using the motto if you throw enough crap on the wall some of it is likely to stick.

So what we need is to pressure opposing QBs and what you offer is a coverage lb in the Top 10

Are you really that slow or what?? I have explained a dozen times that pressuring a quarterback is about scheme and they didn't do it much? Just because he played coverage doesn't mean he can't blitz or pressue the QB. I actually think you know that but are being obtuse on purpose. Try something new instead of the same tired 3 points.
