If we take Luke Kuechly who plays MLB?

If we went on productivity Texas Tech and Hawaii would have 10 QBs in the NFL

Seriously that is lame. Comparing a quarterback in the run and shoot to the Butkus award winner this year and the runner up to Von Miller last year is hardly even in the ballpark. You guys are really stretching to discredit a great talent.

Why would you think I am not rooting for Beason to come back 100%. I hope he is everything he was and more. Why would I hope that Ron, Thomas, or Jon not make it back totally. That kind of thinking is just foreign to me. I was just pointing out that not all injuries are equal in terms of rehab. And really do you think that there is a big difference in rehab between a guy who is in their mid 20s versus someone who is 32?? It isn't like they are 50 or something.

Yes I do I think a 26-27 year old guy can do more and work more in rehab then a 32-33 year old guy.

I understand some of the question marks at linebacker, but we just invested a lot of money into Anderson and Beason, and we just watched Michael Boley, Chase Blackburn, and a guy who's a better fit at DE start at linebacker for a superbowl winning team. Our linebackers are not any less talented.

besides, the best linebacker that would fit in the middle of a JJ 4-3 in this draft is Hightower and he could very well be there in the 2nd round. There you can move Beason to the weakside where he'll play coverage a lot more, which is his strength.

If you look at college production as indicative of potential pro success then you are right, Patrick Willis can't hold a candle to Kuechly. In 3 years he made 200 more tackles than Willis did in 4 years. He had more interceptions and was much better in coverage. You are way underselling Kuechly, he was the most prolific linebacker in his 3 years ever. If he had stayed or his senior year he would have eclipsed every college record for linebackers but perhaps sacks.

You are like most people, not very knowledgeable about how good he is. If you actually watched some games you would know he was a game changer, maybe one of the biggest ever. For more than one season.

Are you F'n married to the dude? You will never convince me that Kuechly is any where near the talent that Willis is.

All you're going off is college stats? In that case Christan Lattner should have been the greatest PF ever.

Because in a 4-3 Johnson defense, the linebackers are ever bit as much part of the foundation as the defensive line. When 2 of them blitz more than 50% of the time and account for 1/2 of your sacks you can't just rely on average players. I would think after last year that would have been painfully clear.

I guess with all the blitzing we will be doing in our jimmy john Defense that blitzing is his forte...he must have some great stats besides tackles. Like sacks, forced fumbles and tfl, right

Ooooph

0 sacks

0 forced fumbles

Not in the top 50 in tackles for loss

1. Beason isn't know as a injury prone player and hadn't missed a game until last season. So sue me if I trust his opinion on his injury situation. It short sighted of you to even put him and TD in the same catagory when it comes to injuries.

3. Same thing you said about Beason and Davis can be said about Edwards so it's not a sure thing with him.

Might want to check your sources. Their own words in recent articles indicate that Beason isn't close to being ready now, and certainly wouldn't have been for the SB, and Edwards is already pretty much back to 100%.

Beason:

Team orthopedist Robert Anderson, who performed Beason's surgery, cleared him to resume activities on Jan 1. But both Beason and Davis are taking it slow to avoid any setbacks.

Beason, 27, has graduated from underwater running to treadmill work, but is in no hurry to put on his cleats and test the Achilles at full speed.

Edwards:

"My rehab is done. Everything feels normal again. Toward the end of the season, I felt like I was pretty much healed, but just a little weak. Now I'm just strengthening myself."

I dont think anyone is disagreeing that this kid produced, has great everything, and could be a great player.

The argument is "Why put expensive windows in a house when the foundation is shaky"

Because in McDermott's/Rivera's scheme, LB is the foundation.

Also, there is concern that none of the "foundations" that people are talking about are much, if any, steadier than what is already on the team...particularly for this season.

Christian was a great college player....he didn't have a great physical skill set and atheticism to transition to the game played at the next level. Luke has a great skill set and displayed it at the combine...indicates he can do even more than he was require at BC.

Beason said on the Wfnz 610 in charlotte himself that if he had to play in the superbowl he could.

So my source is the horse himself.

I also love how Ron Edwards has not played a down for us is already getting a statue built outside the stadium.

But we're talking about college numbers. 55 feels like Kuechly is a better prospect then Pat Willis because he had better production in college. Not Speed, Size, or athletic ability. So in that case Lattner should have been better then Tim Duncan because he had better college numbers.
