sign the tender?

IF I had the trade I wanted. YES

IF I had no other choice and was going to play for the Panthers this season. YES

IF I trusted the Front Office to trade me to a acceptable team. YES

if you and peppers agree then he does not have a trade he wants, he feels he has another choice, and (biggee) he does NOT trust the front office to have his best interests in mind.

I'll agree with what you said. Do yo agree that it is fair to flame on him for not signing then based on that?

The easiest and obvious way to look at this:

Hurney says he doesn't want to trade peppers, so if i was peppers and I wanted to be traded why would I sign if hurney won't even try to trade me?

Every other answer has to be speculative.

so there is either a trust issue or the two parties want two different things. In that case no way in hell i'd sign either.

the question was posed if YOU were Julius Peppers would YOU sign

Which means you're asking for an opinion, since it's impossible for any of us to put ourselves in Peppers' shoes, or to get inside his head and know exactly what he wants. There is no right or wrong answer.

Not really.

In the long run NFL is so much more a business than a sport.

Our passion as fans make us forget that.

I've been as guilty as anyone for flaming on pep. He doesn't deserve it tho.

Steve smith had a great quote. t was about each player being their own Company his was Steve Smith LLC and Peppers is Julius Peppers LLC. He was 100% right on that the players have to look at theirselves that way and do what they think is best for them. The team can want all they want but if the player is set to move on they shouldnt hold him back.

He'll have to sign the tender to get traded, eventually. He's either trying to make sure the Panthers don't end up trading him to a team he doesn't want to play for and the teams he wants to play for are not ponying up a deal for him or he will play for the Panthers or sit out and not get paid. He's put himself in a very precarious situation, but has nobody to blame but himself...

If I were Pep, I would sign the tender at the last possible moment just to keep the FO on pins and needles in order to express my displeasure at being tagged. No way I would sign it before the draft, unless a done deal was in the works that I was happy with . Otherwise we'd have to play this poker hand out until I take my 16+ mil to the bank.

THe better question woud be do you think that Hurney wants Peppers to sign the tender? I expect not. If Hurney wants to keep him and he says he does, he has the perfect excuse not to do anything. He can always say that his hands were tied. Everyone thinks it puts Peppers in control but frankly it plays right into Hurney's hands. One approach could be to just keep Carey going back and forth chasing his tail by objecting to a few elements regarding any offer Carey brings and sending him off scurrying to try and work something out. Or he could simply say he can't do anything until Peppers signs the tender. He can easily say that he wants to negotiate the details himself to makes sure what they are. Otherwise he has to take any offers in writing and anyone knows that those kind of deals rarely get done and take a long time. Each side wants to negotiate things to get the best terms before they put anything in writing so they lowball each other hoping to get an advantage. Things just go back and forth but neither side moves significantly.

Hurney is probably laughing at how naive Carey is.

If no moves are made Saturday, many people will be upset.
i have no doubt that moves will be made and trading will be done on draft day.

i just don't think that peppers is for sure going to be involved in the trading. that wouldn't really upset me either.

i don't care one way or the other. panthers will be fine either way.

copout

you can try

don't hide behind that just because you know that there isn't one damn advantage to him signing anytime between the initial tagging and after OTA's
